Bibi Maryam's length is 11 feet. Mouth diameter is six inches. On the other hand, the length of 'Kale Khan' is 36 feet. It was very heavy. Being made of very hard and beaten iron, it has not rusted over the years. Between the two, Kale Khan Zamzam was more prevalent. So everyone's attention was more. But the contrast is seen later. In time, Bibi Mariam became a sight to behold when Khan Khan Buriganga sank into the river. Kale Khan Zamzam and Bibi Maryam are two inseparable names. There is no 'Kale Khan'. Not since Bibi Maryam was there among the people. To the old people, 'Mariam' and 'Kale Khan Zamzam' were the names of two companions, with whom their lives, faith, were intertwined. There was fear, devotion and Exciting history.

Bibi Maryam Kaman Mughals in India
A massive cannon built during the reign was built to deter tyrannical bandits. It was renamed Bibi Maryam during British rule. It is currently guarded in front of the Dhaka Gate in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. It is a special monument of Mughal rule. It was established in Dhaka during the reign of the Mughal commander Mir Jumla in the mid-seventeenth century. It is also known as 'Mir Jumla's Cannon' and was used by Bengal Subadmir Mir Jumla in his Assam campaign. He later installed this cannon weighing 64,815 pounds at Swarighat in front of Bara Katra in Dhaka, the then capital of Bengal Suba. Later half of it sinks under the sand. This matter is mentioned in the work of Colonel Davidson written in 1840 AD. In 1840, the then British magistrate of Dhaka, Walters, with the help of British engineers, lifted it from Sowarighat and installed it in Chowkbazar area. It was installed at Sadarghat in 1917 (1925 according to many) with the encouragement of Nalinikant Bhattasali, director of the Dhaka Museum. Later in 1957, Dhaka Improvement Trust (DIT) president GA Madani shifted it to Gulistan at the junction of DIT Avenue and Jinnah Avenue (present Bangabandhu Avenue) through Pakistan Army Engineers. It was shifted to Osmani Udyan in 1983. After 40 years in December 2023, the cannon was removed from Osmani Udyan and placed in front of Dhaka Gate, another historical landmark of Dhaka. Dhaka Gate or Mir Jumla Gate is located on the western side Bibi Maryam Kaman.

Very impressive cannons @mrahmednihal and nicely captured 👍

Sad to see that they are still left neglected in the open.
