Thanks for calling my attention to this meet-up.
I just briefly read the program and it’s great with a lot of time for informal networking, but please share also some of your thoughts about adding some presentations and local guide discussions/roundtable events where we can hear some news. Maybe one or two of the Google Moderators would consider giving a presentation - if not in person then via Skype. Some forms of structured debates would also be highly appreciated. It does not have to be boring, but educational in an inspiring way. And this could give us opportunities to get even more inspired and motivated as local guides.
I’m available if you want to discuss this further.

It is fine to post some suggestions. Im sure you will find always people who like to discuss with you about different topics.
While, this is a Meetup like every other organized by Localguides around the world. Means it is no offical Google Meetup, but “only” one organized under the volunteering program of Localguidesconnect and except by the plan everyone can join as well partly is in the own hand of the participant.
Means Google people theoreticly can join like other Localguides but Not as organizer.
So really feel free to put some topics you Like to discuss in the Meetup Here, but it will be only a exchange of ideas. We will celebrate more, than workshop but really I believe we will spend A LOT of time with discussion about Maps and Localguidesconnect.

Here are some ideas for the programming
Power of collaborating with other local guides
- This could be 30 minutes where willing participants explain what benefits they have experienced by teaming up as a group rather than being an isolated local guide. If we can find some that will share their experiences.
How to get more edits approved
- One or two local guides could share their experience in getting to understand how the AI algorithm for approving edits work. 60-90 minute presentations and discussion.
Wishlist for a better Google Maps
- Share how you think Google Maps could be improved. All participants should prepare and present one idea. 20-minute-session with moderator and post-it notes.
Better education for new Local Guides
- What do you wish someone had shown or explained to you about how Google Maps and the Local Guides Program work?
How to organize a local meet-up
- Sharing experiences and answering questions.
Photo critique session
- Participants can volunteer to have their profile evaluated for photography quality. Samples will be shown and explained.
Live recording of an episode of @JanVanHaver 's podcast
- That is if Jan thinks it is a good idea.
Presenting the results of a questionnaire distributed to participants prior to the event.
- This could be fun and be a fantastic conversation starter for the event
This is all I can think of now. I might be willing to organize one or two of them.
Am I the only one hoping for some items on the agenda along such lines? Please be creative and let us know what you would like to attend and what program items you would be willing to organize. If any.
