Same thing here Steve, I have had a few in the last month or so and no notification. I used to receive them and enjoyed receiving them.
I checked by notification list as per Morten and like you it’s checked.

Same Settings for me, and I often get those notifications.

Who knows. A server glitch in some regions or yet another change silently being rolled out gradually …?
I did not post many photos recently, but one from Nov 21 did reach position two immediately and I did not get a notification neither.

Since i cannot read that, i am guessing you are in the European area? My guess is perhaps they do things differently there like for example when Mort showed that photo that was private marked. We dont have that in the US. Perhaps a few things like these are different per country? Nit sure why tho.

Correct Steven, the photo was taken in Italy and my residence is in Germany.
To clearly mark non-published media was a legal decision by the European Union enforced on Google and others, but regarding the notification for featured photos, I cannot believe a similar reason … but who knows …
