did you see this Google fixes missing Maps Timeline history, backups can now be restored?
I can confirm, I see now the import option for the same device! I cannot test it, since I didn’t notice any loss.
However, in my case, the last backup date of other device is longer ago, than I last used it. But that is only a minor issue.
