Yes, @WilfriedB
This message is about the listing itself, not a specific review written by us.
As the Consumer Alerts - Maps User Contributed Content Policy Help says " You may see a banner on the business’s page to let you know that suspicious reviews were removed. "
and
"You may not be able to post reviews or ratings on the place for a period of time. "
Hello Connect Moderator @ErmesT , I also received this alert two hours ago on my iOS device in India. Sharing here for kind information.
c.c @WilfriedB
Interesting @PrasadVR, from the article, I was understanding this new function was only implemented for places in the UK. In your case, was it in the UK?
Paul shared an article from BBC, @WilfriedB . They may not even have been aware of Google’s “exact” intentions. There are already three different types of actions depending on the geographical area in which the reviews are published: EU, Germany only, rest of the world. While this change certainly arises from a UK law, I really appreciate that Google has decided to implement it worldwide. In fact, a simple complaint from a British consumer whose rights were violated when he traveled outside the UK would have been enough to unleash a mess
Last minute news: On my side that message is no longer available.
Can you check on your App, @Steve_UK , @AbdullahAM , @WilfriedB , @Trachemysta , @ShailendraOjha ?
No message here @ErmesT.
One reason could be since you said there is something special for Germany or do we see the message only if one of the places we were posting at, got blocked …?
P.S. you said “message is no longer available.” means there was one, but not anymore? I never saw one, neither this morning nor now.
Confirming the message is no longer on my profile in the app @ErmesT
The message is now gone for me as well @ErmesT
Yes @ErmesT sir
Great!
The alert message also gone from my profile, thank you for sharing the update @ErmesT
@WilfriedB , As I mentioned in my post, the location is India. However, the alert is not appearing now.
Nope, @WilfriedB, the difference in Germany is that a company can also take legal action against the platform hosting the review, if the review is not removed. In this case Google usually contacts LG, asking for proof (a receipt, an email) that LG has been in contact with the company, before agreeing to go to court. If there is no proof, the review is removed
Thank you for sharing this information with us @ErmesT
I haven’t seen this yet, thanks for the information @ErmesT
Thanks to everyone who helped to check and report the issue.
Apparently everything is back to normal.
Congratulations to the team for the quick fix.
To let everyone know that the issue is solved I am marking this reply as the solution for this topic
So, the issue was, the message came up for many local guides, even though the logic to discover “increase in suspicious high-rated reviews” for certain place listings is either not in place yet or signaled a false positive … correct @ErmesT?
I can’t say this, not yet, @WilfriedB
But I will let you know when I find the message on a listing.
I’m quite curious to see if this will help to fix the issue of fake reviews, but honestly I have a mixed sentiment about that. I can easily imagine a scenario where instead of buying fake reviews for his own business someone can decide to “invade” the listing of a competitor with fake five stars reviews
Thanks for sharing this information @ErmesT
This shall help keep maps tidy
@ErmesT Thanks for letting us know.
