@TerryPG The POI has a sign up top, that is honestly hard to see or take a picture of, as the trees in front have grown a lot and are covering the sign. I almost didn’t even see it. We’re up to 13,000+ views! It is interesting indeed. Especially because I really don’t think it’s a good picture at all lol
@Mikeinthefalls Thanks Mike! Congrats on your success as well, those are some great numbers!
Up date since I posted this I have posted approximately 220 photos to google guides , Of those 15 were 90 degree photos, of those 58% of them became featured photos ( still a great number) but I think I can do better,
Next month I’m sharing my somewhat secret tip for foodie restaurant pics, stay tuned,
@TerryPG you are a machine!
Wow @TerryPG you don’t waste any time
I’m here to report on the photo I had posted beginning of August. It now has over 20k views. Still the featured photo. And it is now in my top 10 photos (whoa!) with average views of 555 (nice number). At this rate, it will surpass my second best photo some time between May and June 2023 (thanks to @AdamGT 's handy dandy chart )
So far, 3 out of the 4 I have uploaded were featured. I definitely need to be better about snapping and posting, but such is life. I have to admit, this is helping my views tremendously and I thank you for sharing it with us!
Thats awesome @EvaBar 75% are featured , congrats on all of them, awesome
It’s great to see that we finally got yourhandy dandy chart working @EvaBar . Now while based on the available information, at this point in time the forecast is May and June 2023, as per the online help you should update your data say once a month which should only take a few minutes, and see the impact on the forecast of changes happening and it is by looking at this in this objective rather than subjective way that I believe you can gain much more insight into your photo contributions!I hope to cover this in a forthcoming meetup.
You’re on fire @TerryPG and I love it!!! I have to ask you, what’s the explanation for the sudden spike in the number of photos that you had around April 2021? It seemed quickly drop down again a short time after! I only ask because if it’s some sort of error, perhaps I can help correct this aberration in your history for you!
Hi @AdamGT Its definitely some kind of error within your system . I just checked and for some reason the ID # 2378 has all zeros across the board. It’s the only entry showing zeros.
Hmmm are you sure its ID #2378 @TerryPG . Please check and confirm.
Sorry @AdamGT it should be 2373 , my fault.
What a great share @TerryPG or maybe I will just start calling you Mr. 90% too which @AdamGT came up with- that had me laughing out loud! What a great way to end my night with a laugh.
Also, I learned something new too from the tips you shared Terry about the 90 degree angle photos- it never crossed my mind, and 70,000 views per photo is impressive! Love how you shared what worked for you.
Thank you @AZ_2021 for the kind words , I have more coming soon re Foodie posts
Keep’em coming @TerryPG . It must be lonely at the top with an average of 70,000 views per photo so @AZ_2021 , myself and others here are happy to move up and keep you company
This is very interesting @TerryPG and will work well for standalone businesses. Some places of course only have a front face as they’re located along a whole contiguous wall of businesses along a city street, or sometimes in a shopping mall. So that leaves us with a narrow tall frontage for some locations.
It is possible that I have a few 90-degree photos (haven’t searched), but one of my errors with earlier photos was to take them portrait just as I normally hold my phone for regular usage. Based on suggestions here on LG, I’ve begun to consciously try to take landscape photos. From what I remember of the old days of actual cameras, I guess landscape photography would’ve been a more natural default.
@katydarhel On your point about “people in photos”, I don’t like to post photos with recognizable faces nor vehicle registration numbers. I usually discard the face photos and edit the licence numbers out of any photos with vehicles.
Hi @tony_b , I also cover up license plates and people’s faces, if they are still in the frame.
Hi @tony_b Thanks for the kind comments and I do understand it is mostly impossible to take in downtown settings, but there are opportunities when a POI is situated on a corner and may have a 2 sided signage .
So now I have to ask you tony-b and @katydarhel , please show me how to block out license plates, Can you do this on google photos or do you need a another program like Paint, please help.
@EvaBar Nice mention of that chart by @AdamGT
I too am finding it interesting to see which photos are gathering momentum and which ones are slowing down as I follow them in the Star Tracker. My #5 photo is doing way better than 2, 3, and 4, and is projected to start overtaking them in the second half of next year.
Good point @AdamGT
Noticed some changes when I updated my Star Tracker a few days ago. Two photos exchanged positions and some others had average views that went up or went down. Will certainly make a difference to those 6+ month projections.
