Dear @AdamGT ,
Have an issue with Top hundred local guides, level 9 .
The current update misses my name, when I have earned 57362 points.
Please correct it .
Thanks .
Hi @ShekharMuz_5 , Kindly note;
This Leaderboard is for Photos, so your question about points should appear in the Top 100 Google Maps Local Guides Points (December 2024)). I checked the Level 9 Points Leaderboard December 2024. The last Local Guide on the list has 59,764 points. Since you have 57,362 points, your name wouldn’t appear on this list. Please note that many new Local Guides joined in December. This may have caused position shifts for many Local Guides on the Leaderboards.
c.c @AdamGT
Hello dear@PrasadVR ,
You have rightly observed my issue .
Thanks.
@AdamGT I’m thrilled to see my name here in the list. Top 100 Local Guides Photo Views
New participants (December 2024). This gives me more responsibility and strength going forward Thanks for the encouragement sir
Thanks @PrasadVR. While “not necessarily” being listed in the respective Local Guide leaderboard, the idea here is to be able to see all the new participants with their respective metric, in this case photo views (but in future more to come) at a glance. However, I’m still troubled by the font issue.
There is another somewhat hidden purpose of the list Prasad. Perhaps more useful to me personally that any other Local Guide (Readme point #6 refers).
oh this is why i was doing a double take at some of those numbers! reading the other thread, sounds like a bit of a challenge/headache. as if collecting the data isn’t enough work
Hi @Steve_UK
Yes even though we may not make it on to one or the other leaderboard, it is fascinating seeing how our contributions and achievements compare to others, especially our peers. However, we shouldn’t be discouraged if we don’t make it on to the leaderboards. We can learn a lot from them and study from the contributions of those that do make it.
In this case, not making it on to a leaderboard for not having enough photo views is one scenario but there is another interesting scenario which @Peadar refers to as a quirk of the leaderboards This is when you disappear altogether when you pop out of the top of a leaderboard because of a change in your Local Guide level. You can read more about this “quirk” in the documentation here.
@AdamGT
Auf dem Smartphone sind auch die großen Zahlen nicht ganz sichtbar.
Kann man dafür nicht Excel Tabellen besser verwenden ?
Hello @ShreyaMusings
To help investigate if you are missing, can you let me know which specific leaderboard you think you are missing from and what metric (e.g. photo views) do you record as having?
Precisely Steve
I suppose if you move up a board, then the fun starts all over again and again :))))
quirk the gift that keeps on giving !
The photo views and numbers are insane, but I think the good thing is there is a lot of different areas you can focus on which is cool.
I read a hundred threads about what photo is best and all this and I normally edit, straighten, brighten all that jazz and I love the pics, and hit featured photos regularly, very happy.
on saturday I went on a 31km walk, and took photos of 100 places (some nice blood red for the map right there), and I couldn’t face processing them, so just uploaded them, and they are duller, wonkier, mostly at an angle rather than straight on some cut off the shop names a little, and i swear it’s just the same number of featured than i usually get, and i’m just confused lmao.
sorry , off topic a bit.
Well done @MathanVibranarayan not only are you a new participant as you also made it onto the Level 9 Photo Views board. I suggest that you now study and try to get onto the Top 100 Average Views/Photo board
No need to apologise Steve because it’s the very point you’re making that inspired the creation of the Leaderboards. Your most viewed single photo post refers.
Hi @AdamGT I had filled the following data in T100 leadership data for December still my name isn’t in photo views or any other list. I am active on connect and I am also level 8.
256 reviews 34 ratings 131 reactions 66,246 views, also I have edited, updated roads which were missing and added caption still they are not updating on my maps contribution since so many days. Can you help on that?
Regards,
I missed that… @AdamGT thanks for the mention. Definitely I’ll aim for Top Average Views / Photos board. So kind of you. Have a great day ahead
Adam, I haven’t done a detailed examination of the names ahead of me, but there must have been a lot more active guides uploading on this Level 9 Leaderboard in December than in October and November. I went from #96 in October to #82 in November, then with an increased amount of photo views I’m now #103 in December.
Big congrats to @DougSTL at the top of the list, as well as my friend @shunsader in the #2 position. Very well done.
Firstly well done on you impressive contributions and achievements and your dedication and passion for being a Local Guide @ShreyaMusings. However, even with all time photo views of 2,520,546 no doubt as at today’s date, which leaderboard and in which position do you believe you should appear? I’m playing the Devil’s Advocate here because I firmly believe in the old Chinese saying “give a man (in this case a woman) a fish and you feed him (her) for a day. Teach him (her) how to fish and you feed him (her) for a lifetime”. Also, in the back of my mind I think that this was all explained to you a month or so ago!
@ShreyaMusings we may have gone over this before. Each Leaderboard serves a different purpose, and you may appear on one without being on another. This specific board is for the top 100 LGs by count of photo views, and @AdamGT always adds the next 10 who are “knocking on the door”.
In this instance, the 100th Level 8 guide has 28,528,936 views of their photos, while the 110th has 23,806,679 views. You have 2, 520,546 views so you would not be in that list.
Yes I think you’re right there @tony_b. Perhaps I’m wrong but it might well be due to the lure of the Annual Movers & Shakers coming up soon. If so, it’s a little misguided because of the strict rules of qualifying for participation on the movers & shakers boards (the readme in the Top Movers & Shakers in 2023 refers).
Hey Adam, I should’ve known timezone-wise that you were awake and available to respond to @ShreyaMusings. Anyway, she now has twice as much information to digest.
