Many of us love to travel. At times, many may have limited budget, and hence backpacking travel is popular among many travelers. It is then very useful to know the best free places to visit in a certain area, when travelling on a shoestring.

Malaysia, is a very popular travel destination among visitors to South East Asia. Here I would like to share our 14 best free places to visit, when one comes to Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
Feel free to check out this shared list below.
14 Best Free Places to visit in Kuala Lumpur Shared List

  1. Batu Caves (https://goo.gl/maps/WqYMvmfbhnofgimk7) (Photo above)
One of the most popular attractions in Kuala Lumpur, with an important Hindu temple built into a natural limestone cave. It houses the tallest Murugan statue in the world. And to access the inner temple, one needs to climb up a 272 step journey. It’s a very rewarding experience to walk up and explore the upper cave temple. This place is connected to center of town via a KTM Komuter station.

  1. KLCC Park (https://g.page/klcc-park?share) (photo above)

KLCC is the Kuala Lumpur City Center area, and houses the icon of Malaysia, the Petronas Twin Towers. Along side the Petronas Twin Towers, there is a huge recreational green park and surrounding areas, that locals and expats spend a lot of time. Many visit here in the evenings and weekends for exercise or just hanging out. Of course, it is near to Suria KLCC, the premier shopping mall in Malaysia.

  1. Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery (https://goo.gl/maps/PbVKH98TTCBLjove6) (photo above)

Bank Negara is Malaysia’s Central Bank. And possibly unknown to many even locals, there is a Museum and Art Gallery managed by the Central Bank. It may be one of the more underrated places in town to visit. Located near the Central Bank main building itself, it houses 3 levels of exhibits. 1 floor for the art gallery, 1 floor for historical notes and currencies and another floor for the Central Bank’s history. It’s very eye opening visiting here, and if one pays attention enough, one can view the “hidden” vault.

Check out some of my older posts and photos about the Central Bank’s art gallery and museum.

Hey @StephenAbraham ,

What a great idea to start series of posts dedicated to sharing places that are free to enter. I believe many people will benefit from this information, such as those travelers who come Kuala Lumpur for a limited time.

I also had the chance to visit Kuala Lumpur 2 years ago. I was there just for 8-9 hours and did go out of the airport and visited the city center. However, I didn’t spend enough time to plan carefully what I can see and optimize my options and therefore I missed the Batu Caves. I hope I can go there again.

Here is a photo that I took of the Petronas Twin Towers.

I hope now having the chance to read your recommendations, if I have the chance to visit there again, I will know which places are the must visit. : )
