A 3-Day Itinerary to Explore San Diego on Foot

Very few places in the world can be explored without using a taxi, car, or public transport.

San Diego, located in the western part of the USA, is one such town.

I visited there last year, and for all 3 days of my stay, the city offered plenty of attractions accessible by walking.

:hotel: Where to Stay

The key is to stay at a central location in downtown. So I chose the Hostel on 3rd, on Market Street, which was super economical and studded with amenities.

:person_surfing: Soak at the Seaport Village

The major attraction closest to the hostel was the Sea Port Village.

Spend half a day here, roaming around, take a nice breakfast and explore the plenty of shopping opportunities.

:ship: Head to the Majestic USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum

From there, keep walking towards the amazing battleship museum and spend half a day there.

This museum has 3 levels, and it would easily take up 4 hrs for an immersive experience.

:timer_clock: Don’t miss the amazing views and little monuments along the way

As you walk towards the Seaport Village, look around with curiosity. Divert to some odd alley and check if you bump into something interesting, like this lovely clock tower.

:compass: Take in the San Diego Vibes at the Gaslamp Quarters

The GasLamp Quarters area of San Diego is an ideal place to spend your evening.

This is a happy feet, walking street area that is closed to vehicles after sunset. So one can spend a leisurely walk around window shopping and planning for dinner.

:shallow_pan_of_food: Treat yourself to San Diego Style Pizza

Finally, end your day with a sumptuous Pizza at the iconic Prince Street Pizza. Their service and quality are amazing.

For budget packers and solo travelers, here is a stepwise tutorial to take the city bus in San Diego, and save precious $$

:mushroom: Research San Diego with help from local guides

This post shares tidbits to help you explore San Diego like a local.

Besides, there are the more famous places like the Sea World, zoos, aquariums, and the vast beaches. But I did not explore those.

:rocket: My suggestions:

  • Visit San Diego.
  • Walk around the downtown - take plenty of photos.
  • The city has charming vibes - soak in San Diego, take in San Diego.

Did you also note the other city itineraries? Kolhapur and Nashik?
at the end of the post above?
They too are condensed forms of my previous posts from those cities.

I went to their SeaWorld when I was there, its like 27 years ago lol @TusharSuradkar. San Diego is a beautiful place, from here I went to Long Island, LA and visited Universal Studio.

I gave Sea World a miss since local travel was out of my budget for time and expenses.

I too coupled the San Diego trip with Seattle and Las Vegas.
