Kolhapur is a place to fall in love with.
This city had everything to captivate a tourist’s attention.
Nice climate, adorable palaces, an enjoyable lakeshore, great food, popular snacks, and cafes.
This is besides the ease of access via road, rail, and air.
Kolhapur is also mid-way traveling from the two largest cities Mumbai and Bengaluru. So a nice comfortable stop in Kolhapur is worth the time spent here.
I visited Kolhapur in August 2024 to host the first meetup of local guides.
Here’s the recap of the first meetup of Kolhapur Local Guides.
I stayed in Hotel Shlok in Kolhapur.
This was an unexpected discovery as I did not book a hotel in advance.
I simply browsed for hotels nearby and chose the one that had good reviews and photos from visitors.
The meetup venue was the New Palace.
This is the architectural grandeur of Kolhapur.
After the meetup, we visited the Mahalaxmi Temple.
This is one of the oldest and most important temples in India.
The entrance to this temple also had a majestic public clock.
Later in the afternoon, we had lunch at Prabhavale Hotel.
For the first time, I tried the classic Kolhapuri Red and White Curry
Rankala Lakefront is a must-visit iconic place in Kolhapur
An evening spent here relieved us of the tiredness and fatigue of a busy day.
At the end of the stroll and some boating in the Rankala Lake we settled for some late-night snacks at Thunder Cafe - A Taste that Lingered for a long time.

Nice post to show Love and support for Kolhapur and it’s local guides. I loved how they put I
sign in front of good and beautiful architecture. I can see a clock tower in the building
(I hope you got that to your collection).
In India, you may be the first one to travel to other state to conduct their first meetup and starts their community, A true Community Builder. @TusharSuradkar

Thank you, dear @Rahul001, and great observation
Yes, I saw that clock tower from the street and then started to find the entrance to the place. Google Maps did not help. Sadly the Shalini Palace is closed due to litigations in the royal family.
It is a dream photo with a
sign in the backdrop of an amazing clock tower.
Hence the cover photo for the post.
Yes, I take pride in starting local guide meetups in Kolhapur, Pune, and also in Nashik.
Sadly, local guides did not take it ahead from there.
