Amsterdam is renowned for its many canals and bridges. It is no wonder it’s called the Venice of the North. Tourists from all over the world travel to compliment its beauty . I was not left out , I too daily embark on photowalk around the city. Whenever I see section of the canal that caught my attention, I stopped , climbed on the bridge and take a shot . Here are the few of my pictures of the canals.
The canals are vital to transport network of the city, Passengers and goods are seeing being ferried across the canals . Most canals end up in the large water ways, on which sides the ports are located.
The Canals are walled by trees and combing with cooling effect of the water, they create a refreshing atmosphere ideally for museums , restaurants and even headquarter of multinal firms are sited by the canals.
The trees shade near the canal provide a perfect cover from sunlight . The trees, the walkway and canals provide a perfect spots for relaxation. Tourists love to take a walk by the canals.
I am really impressive how beautiful Amsterdam is …
Even the atmosphere is relaxing. People are warm and friendly. Good you have been here before. For me , this my first time and I want to make the remaining few days to explore the city before going back to Russia.
Hi @Sophia_Cambodia thanks for reading and for the warm comment. It is truly beautiful here…if you have time , you should visit .There are lot of attractions in the city.
As well as the historic canals, there’s lots of touristic things to see and do in this city of Van Gogh @Emmik20 like the House of Anna Frank, the Royal Palace and Museums etc, but something we really enjoyed was hiring fiets and visiting the amazing Amsterdam Beatrixpark. I’m sure you will enjoy your time there!
@AdamGT thanks . I will want to visit the Amsterdam Beatrixpark.
I have not been there.
I went to Van Gogh Museum yesterday I couldn’t not go in. Visitation is now by appointment due to Covid -19 restriction. Anyway, it’s fine. I might still have to pass through Amsterdam again in the nearest future.
@Emmik20 Thank you for sharing, I can definitely see a great Engineering and Urban planning behind all of it. Glad you got to enjoy such a unique place. Stay healthy.
Impressive photos, @Emmik20 . I’ve never been to Amsterdam, but it is one of my Top 5 cities to visit in Europe. Thank you for letting me explore this incredible city through your pics.
Hi @AlexandreCampbell thanks for reading . Amsterdam is beautiful . I need to ask which city is the most beautiful in the world ’ cus it seems Amsterdam is now to me the most beautiful . I heard of Venice but never being there yet .
Hi @MAHBUB_HYDER thanks for the compliment . I took a lot of pictures but just few of them for the post. I just reset my phone camera and took my time to take the pictures. All I need to do now is to get myself a camera
Hello @RamsesMorales I can see you like engineering ,likewise me. There are lot engineering works going into building those canals. Usually places like these get flooded in other lands . The Dutch have master the act of separating water from land.
Hello @Emmik20 it’s always good to hear and read how someone enjoys visiting our main capital. I’m living 90 minutes from Amsterdam and with a good friend living there I always have a place to sleep. So I go there quite often. Even after all my visits there is still so much to see and discover. I hope you enjoy your stay there and thank you for the great post.
Hello @Erik_van_den_Ham thanks for the comment. It’s good you are living in Netherland. Your capital city is really beautiful and people are quite friendly.
I loved Amsterdam when I visited. It’s definitely one of my favorite European cities. I was there in 2017 for Christmas and New Year’s and it was so beautiful. I really can’t wait to visit again and hopefully during summer when it’s the tulip season.
