Account got unbanned but remained stripped i.e. not fully re-instated (reviews/badges/likes etc)

Hello All!

I’ve been having issues with my account for months now.

For reasons unknown to me I got banned. When I found out I sent an appeal and some weeks later got unbanned. I was sent the automated email and told I could connect to LocalGuides here and that everything was sorted.

Alas, the truth was different.

My account is still banned from Local Guides, I’ve sent 2 more appeals regarding this and get the same automated email saying there are no restrictions, but I still remain banned on Local Guides. Tried logging out and back into the Local Guides Connect with the account in question, though it keeps telling me I’m still banned here… Hence I had to use my ancient e-mail to log in and ask for help here seeing Google wasn’t able to fix this yet and seem to be unreachable regarding this issue.

Also, more annoying and what really matters, now my Google maps profile ( https://www.google.nl/maps/contrib/110977199910144396918/ ) been stripped of my views, ratings and badges!?
My reviews since the ban was lifted no longer appear on Google maps, only in my profile. My badges and all the work I’ve put in reviews and photos don’t seem to pop up anywhere for anybody. Only the ones I made after being unbanned, but even those reviews got reset. E.g. it shows I made a total of 10 reviews, but clicking on my profile you see the true number. (Those 10 should be more too, having made more than that since the ban got lifted)

It keeps resetting again and again each time I address this issue to you and get an automated reply everything is fine.

I’ve put years into Google maps. Please can anybody help fix this issue and get in touch with me (without getting that same automated email I’ve gotten since June multiple times now)
I’m really trying to Google but that seems impossible…:confused:

Hi @Chris987654321 I can see you have 4000+ contributions but you’ve restricted your account so I can’t see what they are. While I understand why you’ve done it signing up with a second account is against the T&C. I’ll ask @InaS to check out your original account but in the meantime please leave Connect and Local Guides from this one

To clarify, I know my profile is set to private, that’s not what I meant people can’t see my reviews, nor are they counted as reviews at the places I leave them.

I’m saddened hundreds of my reviews are still blocked/hidden or worse…

Can’t check back here till Local Guides works on the other account then.

I’ll log out and give it a few weeks and try to connect to Local Guided with my usual account then, or sooner if I get an email saying it’s all cleared.

Thank you for reaching out. Could you please try to log in to your account now and let us know if you can? Before doing so, please clear the history, cache and any saved cookies.

Also, please exit the program with the second profile because that’s against our Local Guides Terms and Conditions.

I managed to get back into my Local Guides connect account, and have of course logged out the emergency account. Thank you!

Glad this is working, though my Google Maps account is still in shambles… Just checked again and my reviews are still awol… :confused:

Can you guys shed some light here what to do, or how to get in touch with a Google Maps department which can fix this issue?
I’m curious if anybody else has ever mentioned having this problem occur…

i had pretty much a similar story, got banned for unknown reasons, not worth to mention that I did nothing wrong, at least not that I know off.

Did all the reading of any rules provided by google maps, but find a clue and filled out the form.

After a while my google maps profile got re-instated and got also my level 9 batch back.

Everything looks fine, except my reviews, I also put a lot of effort into that Programm and wrote around 1600 reviews. Im traveling since 2019 and already visited a lot of different countries and im pretty active in writing reviews.

My problem is a bit different and hopefully @InaS could bring some light into my problem.

On my googlemaps profile Im now a novice reviewer, after I wrote a review it has started counting from 0. Now im in around 6 or 7, but I can see also the count of all my reviews, thats around 1607+ ish.

For me it looks like, that all my reviews I wrote before the ban, are somehow there in counting as a number. But the batch (novice reviewer) has started from zero, it’s like the algorithm behind, is just ignoring my effort I did before the ban, thats around 1600 reviews:)))

I would suggest you request help in a new thread or at the end of your thread related to your suspension.

I see that only 3 of your 1607 reviews are currently public.

Please use this form if you believe that your contributions have been wrongfully unpublished.

I will open a new thread regarding my problem, but it looks like you already gave me the solution.

I will use the form you mentioned in this reply.

I also used your guide „count hidden contributions“ and it looks like I do have a different result.

I used different browsers and even a laptop but the result is always the same.

I will post some screenshots of my result.

You need to check in an incognito window to see the number of public reviews.

But I thought that’s exactly what I did, In my screenshots on google chrome you can see that the window was open in incognito mode (left side of the address bar), if that’s what you’re referring to?

This is strange, @Carlos77 .

Sorry I missed seeing you were in incognito.

I checked again on Android and I still only see 3 public reviews. If you are correct none of your reviews are hidden.

I can check on my desktop tomorrow if you wish.

thank you for clarification, that would be great if you could check it also on your Desktop.

But I think you’re right and I do have some sort of weird issue to see a different result, because from time to time my reviews wont go public and needs to be checked by a google moderator and it will always go public afterwards. Maybe my profile is somehow flagged and always needs a double check:)

There is another way to see our public profile on a Desktop computer:

The image above should show where you can find it. Please let me know what number of public reviews are mentioned via this path.

Here on My desktop, I took another look at your profile. And still, I only see 3 public reviews.

Let’s hope and wait for the manual review to take effect. Typically 3 weeks of waiting.

@Carlos77 I understand your problem all too well… The restarting of the review count is also a thing here still… Please let me know when you have a response or your profile was turned back to normal if you’d be so kind. I will inform here when my case has been reviewed and fixed too (:

At time of writing my reviews, photos and badges are still not reverted back to what they were. Also still no clue who banned me for which reason, which could possible help others in the future too. Hope to get some info regarding this too when all’s been looked at (:

@MortenCopenhagen Thanks for your input on the “public profile”. I tried this out and it says “12 reviews” but then I can scroll through almost all my reviews I think… though I am thinking this may be an error, seeing I’ve set my profile to private atm.

Would you mind have a look and telling me what you see on my profile now?

@MortenCopenhagen Ah I saw your message regarding viewing in incognito mode, this does show my profile is private when viewing it through this method.

Odd that when clicking “view public profile” when logged in all reviews and photos show op (whilst still mentioning “12 reviews” at the top)

I opened set my profile to public, viewed it with incognito mode and it stated my correct level and points, only just 12 reviews this time… not all…

So there’s things mixing up when logged in and viewing your own profile compared to what others see…

To help the Google Moderators you could add info on what platform you are testing on, if you see the sane on other platforms, and if Clear cache & cookies, helps. If you have not already done so. The link has step-by-step instructions for Android, IOS, and Desktop. Just select the relevant tab at the top.

Also, please log out of your Local Guides account and log back in, and update your Google Maps app if necessary.
