Adding The Ghana PAC, Adum to Google maps- most interesting thing I have done as a local guide.

Ghana digitized it’s process of getting a passport in the year 2019. Passport Application Centers were created at some cities. This was to make the process fast and efficient. The populace welcomed the initiative as a step in the good direction. In November the same year I went through the online process of getting a passport and booked an appointment for vetting. The place of appointment was indicated on the appointment letter but how do I get to the place? I resorted to Google maps to help me locate the place, but to my amazement, the place wasn’t added on Google maps.

I then decided to ask people around to show me where to find Ghana PAC’ s office at Adum. Sadly, all the four persons showed me the old Passport office. The issue was that, it was a new place and few individuals have visited the place. I finally saw a security guard who gave me the right direction.

After completing the vetting i decided to add the place to Google maps. I then took pictures and successful added the place.

This later helped me to give peoples direction to the place. Where they asked me where is the office? I tell them its on Google maps.

The most interesting part was when Google maps informed me that over 1000 people have viewed my pictures about the place. I was super excited  . I was excited that by adding this place on Google maps, people can easily locate it without hustle. Kuddos to all local guides!

Hi @Asare_gh ,

It seems that you’ve shared a post for your Connect Live 2020 application. Keep in mind, one of the requirements is to share your post on Local Stories, so I’ve moved your post there, thanks.

Feel free to have a look at the application guidelines and find some handy tips for creating an application post.

What a shame that I have never visited Ghana as close as it is! @Asare_gh

Lagos, Nigeria. It’s about 1 hour 16 minutes via flight. I have just never had a reason to come. I will try it soon. Maybe you all will have a meetup and I will take that opportunity to come.

Thank you @Asare_gh
