The most highly tourist attraction in Srinagar is Shikara ride at Dal Lake. After my Episode 4 - Way of Thajwas Glacier, Sonamarg visit we headed towards next destination at Srinagar. The sun was setting on Dal Lake and the sky was painted in shades of orange. The lake was peaceful and serene, reflecting the evening sky and the surrounding mountains. As I take a leisurely ride in a Shikara, I can feel a sense of tranquillity and beauty that only this place can offer. The sun is slowly setting, and the sky is becoming darker, but the lake still sparkles in the fading light. I could hear the birds chirping as they fly around me, and I could feel the cool breeze brushing against my skin. It was a magical moment, and I was filled with joy as I take in the beauty of this place.

The shikara is a traditional wooden boat that was once used by the locals to traverse the lake. Today, these vessels are used as a mode of transport and to take tourists on sightseeing tours of the lake. The ride is slow and peaceful, and you can enjoy the breathtaking views as you glide across the lake.
The floating vegetable and flower market on the lake is a must-see. Every morning, the small boats are filled with fresh produce, and the vendors and customers alike come to the market to haggle and purchase the fresh fruits and vegetables. The colourful boats and the sight of the vendors selling their wares is an experience that should not be missed. But unfortunately due to some local issues, the floating market was not operational on the day I visited.

A night Shikara ride on the Dal Lake in Srinagar, Kashmir is a magical experience. As the sun sets, the lake takes on a mystical quality, with the reflection of the stars shimmering on the water. The gentle breeze and the serene ambiance of the lake make it an ideal spot for a romantic night ride. The Shikara ride is a peaceful and serene experience, with the occasional sound of the oars splashing in the water. The illuminated city skyline, the shimmering stars, and the peaceful sound of the oars create a truly unique experience. You can also enjoy the local Kashmiri cuisine while on the ride, and even buy some souvenirs from the floating markets. We enjoyed a famous Cavha while riding. Cavha is a popular tea served on Dal Lake in Kashmir, India. It is made of green tea, cardamom, cinnamon, saffron, and other spices. It is served hot and is usually enjoyed with Kashmiri snacks such as kulcha or namkeen. Cavha is a delightful and refreshing beverage, perfect for enjoying during the cooler months of the year. You must enjoy the unique flavor of Cavha, a traditional tea of Kashmir, on the beautiful Dal Lake.
