Birds of Bangladesh: part 1

During my school life, I memorized the English names Birds of Bangladesh. I learned about our enriched birds at that time. In Bangladesh, there are a lot of birds, the name of which I cannot write here as I do not know all. I will write about only few of them. Others you can find in the web.

Weaver Bird: We called the bird as Babui in Bengali. Once upon on a time this bird was common in Bangladesh. But due to environmental change, they are not easily seen anymore. From my point of view, these are the most social birds I have seen. They live in a tree as a society. Singing, quarreling, flying nearby, waving, everything is very much enjoyable. Their nest is a matter of interest to every people.

Magpie Robin: This is our national bird. We call this as Doyel. This bird is still seen in our country in many places especially in the village area. They sing early in the morning. Very nice bird with a very nice color combination. They live nearby our house.

Pigeon: Pigeon is known as Kobutor in our country. They are found in both village and city area. These are our domestic bird. We get meat from them. They play an important role in our village economy.

Common Myna: This is really common in our country. In every village and downtown area, you can see them. We call them as Shalik. Most of the time they walk and fly nearby the farmer’s kitchen and eat whatever get.

The other common birds are Sparrow, Crow, Dove, Black Drongo, Parrot, Heron, Kingfisher, and many more. Birds play an important role in maintaining the balance of the natural ecosystem. They are the part and parcel of our environment. We must do everything to save them for our own interest.

Hope you all like this post on some common birds of Bangladesh. It will be a great pleasure to me if I can see some photos of your common birds.

Such an interesting and informative post, @MukulR !

Sometimes I forget to notice the creatures that I may pass every day. Now I will open my eyes and try to snap one to post here. My favorite birds in my part of the USA are cardinals (bright red and my state bird) and hummingbirds (so fast!)

Hello @MukulR ,

Thank you for sharing these photos and all this information about the birds in your country. I guess, pigeons are everywhere!

While speaking about Morocco, or Bulgaria, my two countries, I can’t remember a bird specific to these locations. However, in Morocco, they are obsessed with pigeons and people take care of them on the roofs of their houses. Usually, there is an empty room on the roof, and the pigeons live there.

@BorrisS Thanks. In Bangladesh also, pigeons are kept in boxes. We open the gate in the morning and close in the evening. the whole day they fly here and there and collect their foods themselves. Very less expenditure for pigeons in our villages. But in the city area, like Dhaka or Chittagong pigeons are kept in closed are and they are not allowed to fly freely outside as they can be lost. Please try to make a post or share some photos of Bulgarian birds.

Hi.

I am glad that you have a very nice Robin bird @Rupali_rv . I cannot give you any assurance about sending a bird to India for two reasons. 1. Robin birds are found in nature and they are wild. 2. We cannot send any birds or animals without the permission of the government. Better you try to find one locally. I am sure if you try in West Bangle, Bihar or Assam states you may find one. If you know anyone in these states, please make contact with them. I wish from the core of my heart that you will get a nice female friend for your Robin. My love for your bird. From my curiosity, I have a question for you, how did you get this post after one year?

Regards.

Thankyou so much from my heart :leaves: :leaves:

But no longer needed… Our beloved Robin went to God… Last night I put him to sleep and he slept forever…

He was not able to eat properly for a few days … I do not know what happened to him … It was my mistake that I could not show him to the doctor in time … because of Corona …

My family is very depressed … We are not able to get into our normal life … Weeping all day … We put it under a tree in our garden…

The tree under which we were found … If you know Hindu customs … then he gave up his life in Brahma Muhurt on the day of Dol Gyaras …a very precious day… We are doing his Shraddha karma everyday …

I am feeling very sad and regretful too … that I could not bring him back to life… we also gave a lot of breath…

I called him my little son Robi…⚘⚘

I do not know what you will feel by reading my message … But I have written my feelings and sorrow in it …please please my friend  … Pray for my Robbie for his new journey … he take a new birth as a human and come back soon to me … :star2: :star2: :star2: :star2: :star2:
