Today is celebrated as Electronic Greetings Day (November 29th). To my valuable and fellow local guides, I greet you for your work and contribution you done in maps .
What is Electronic Greetings?
Electronic greetings/E-greeting refers to digital greetings/cards that we send to our family, friends and community to show and convey greetings and wishes. Like we greet our fellow friends and family in social media.
Best example is when Google maps greeting mail of our contributions
In Connect, we do post to greet a person, an idea, a community, etc… Basically categories like Connections & Celebrations and Google Maps Contribution Stories come under the E-greeting. Also we can greet a local guide in Connect by sending them a message.
Check below how to send a message to a local guide in Connect (messaging a local guide is more simple in new connect when using a mobile/tablet)
Imagine you see a post of a local guide. You want to send them greetings because of their work.
Click their username or profile image. (Shown above screenshot is @TusharSuradkar )
You will get a profile pop-up with a “Message” and “Follow” button.
When you click on the message buttons, a new “Start a message” page will pop-up.
You will see a link to a post from where you click the profile and go to the message and “Re” with the post name as title. This means you want to talk about that post. Go and Greet them!
If you don’t want to talk about that post, please delete the link and title by pressing backspace/delete on your keyboard.
You can also add more local guides by clicking “+” in the “start a message” page.

A good review to a business is a greeting that we gave to that business for their valuable and friendly service to the customers.
Contribution to Digital Accessibility is also a kind of greeting we do for the community.

Connect Private Message system, I’m very familiar…
And finally, I’m a person who believes in minimum communications…I avoid even good morning/good evening greeting messages… personally…
Thanks for tagging me in your post.
Regards, dear…
Wow!
This is one of the best posts I’ve read recently on Connect and the internet.
You’ve covered this topic in an amazing fashion and I admire both the depth and breadth of the topic, with so many seemingly simple features that we use daily - are all electronic greetings.
We take them for granted but they do wonders for the recipient, especially messages, likes, congratulatory notes, etc.
