Celebrate Road Safety Week With Me

Hy Local Guides,

From November 18th to 24th, Road Safety Week is taking place. This week is to make awareness about safety features and measures of the road to the public.

Aim

  • Raise awareness about road safety and measures.
  • Reduce Road accidents and fatalities.
  • Promote responsible driving habits.

How Google maps Helps

When you follows a route ( by clicking Direction of a place you wanted to go ), you can see “report” at the bottom.
In that, you can report whether a roads you take has:

  • Crash
  • Congestion
  • Road works
  • Lane closure
  • Stalled vehicle
  • Object on road

You can add or fix road by clicking on your contributions ( bottom right) and clicking on the “Update Road”.

  • Missing road - a road can be added.
  • Road name - a new road name can be added.
  • One or Two way - direction of vehicle can be changed.
  • Drawn incorrectly - can change or remove road if drawn incorrectly.
  • Road is private - marks road as private as it only leads to a private place/home.
  • Road closed - can close a road due to road works.
  • Road does not exist - can remove road permanently if it doesn’t exist.
  • Other - if road has other issues.

If you pull up the direction bar when you are in route, you can see various features like “add report”, “shown traffic on maps”, etc…

I hope this helps and comment down if I miss anything.
Also comment down your thoughts and views.

Caption:-When you use Google Map Live navigation on the trip, the Gmap pop-up also shows up in this way.

Caption:-When strolling down the street, you can also use Google Live to find the nearby attraction you want to visit.(but with caution).
Thanks.

Thank you @TravellerG for your valuable comments. Back at start of this posts, I not find anything common with Google maps to write. Then I realised that writing that commons with Google maps have more significance than not writing it. It may help a local guide who reads it.

Yes, Google Maps does show the pedestrian path.
What I mean is that I am going to track paths where footpaths actually exit or are in good condition. Not all streets in Pune have a footpath sidewalk, so many times we have to walk on the road.
