Challenge: ♿✅ Accessible ₹ ATMs in Your City

As a leading adaptor of digital money, India still has a significant demand for cash transactions. However, individuals with disabilities and seniors often face barriers when accessing ATMs. This is a mission to create a comprehensive list of accessible ATMs across the country, and we need your help! :raised_hands:

As a Local Guide, I’ve started documenting accessible ATMs in my hometown, Madurai. I’ve created a list of 5 ATMs with detailed reviews, including their location, accessibility features, and services offered.

You can check out the list here: Accessible ATMs (Madurai, TN) :wheelchair::man_with_probing_cane::white_check_mark:

Here are a few examples of the ATMs I’ve documented:

  1. SBI Ramaond Reserve Line ATM :round_pushpin:: This ATM is situated in a prominent place with easy roadside parking :red_car:. It has deposit and withdrawal facilities :chart_with_upwards_trend:, and is almost always in working condition :arrows_counterclockwise:, as it’s adjacent to the main branch of SBI :bank:. The best part? It’s wheelchair accessible :wheelchair::man_with_probing_cane::white_check_mark:

  1. SBI Kamarajar Salai ATM :round_pushpin:: Located in front of the Kamarajar Salai branch, this ATM has parking facility :red_car: and is maintained well :arrows_counterclockwise:. It also has deposit and withdrawal facilities :chart_with_upwards_trend:, and is wheelchair accessible :wheelchair::man_with_probing_cane::white_check_mark:

  1. SBI Chinna Chokikulam ATM :round_pushpin:: This independent ATM is close to the hospital zone :hospital: and has roadside parking :red_car:. It’s wheelchair accessible :wheelchair:, but please note that it’s a withdrawal-only ATM :chart_with_downwards_trend:. Unfortunately, it sometimes experiences technical issues .

  1. India Post Chinna Chokikulam AMT :round_pushpin:: This exclusive ATM by India Post is close to the colleges and city trade center :books:. It has roadside parking :red_car:, but please be careful as it’s near the Tammukam bus stop and can be crowded :bus:. It’s wheelchair accessible :wheelchair:, but please note that it’s a withdrawal-only ATM :chart_with_downwards_trend:. Unfortunately, it sometimes experiences technical issues .

  1. IDBI Bank North Veli ATM :round_pushpin:: This ATM is conveniently located in the heart of the city, adjacent to the North Veli IDBI Branch :bank:. It has both deposit and withdrawal facilities :chart_with_upwards_trend:, and roadside parking :red_car:. The best part? It’s wheelchair accessible for both bank and ATM :wheelchair::man_with_probing_cane::white_check_mark:

Now, it’s your turn! :tada: We invite all Local Guides to join this mission and start documenting accessible ATMs in their hometowns. Together, we can create a comprehensive list of accessible ATMs across the country, empowering individuals with disabilities and seniors to navigate convenient and barrier-free banking options :raised_hands:.

Will you take on the challenge?

- Start by documenting accessible ATMs in your city :world_map:
- Share your findings with us by creating a list on Google Maps :world_map:
- Use the hashtag #AccessibleATMs so we can track your progress :bar_chart:
- Encourage your fellow Local Guides to join the mission :handshake:

Let’s work together to create a more inclusive and accessible banking experience for all! :rainbow::sparkling_heart: I extend my gratitude to my seniors in this journey @TusharSuradkar @Kumaarsantosh @TravellerG @NareshDarji @Rahul001 @PrasadVR @Gurukrishnapriya @AjitThite and my dear fellow LG Families to join this mission to create the longest list of accessible ATMs across the country.

Good one my friend, @MathanVibranarayan .

It reminded me that @TusharSuradkar had hosted one virtual meet-up explaining in details about how to check accessibility :wheelchair: of ATMs .
It was a worthy for most of us even virtually.

Cheers!

Congratulations on undertaking this activity @MathanVibranarayan
It is heartening to see the images and collages of so many banks.
And as @AjitThite mentioned I’d like to add that there are more accessibility features to ATMs beyond the Ramp:

  1. Braille marks on the buttons of the ATM - for the visually impaired.
  2. Voice-operated ATMs, where the entire transaction is done via an audio jack.

You can read and see this in my previous posts:

  1. Voice ATMs in Gurugram.
  2. Voice ATMs in Delhi.

Also @Ssiddharth2000 :point_up_2:

Note that

  1. All ATMs are voice-enabled.
  2. All ATMs have Braille on their buttons.

So including these features in the recap of these surveys adds quality to our reports.
