Did You Recycle Your Bottle?♻️

We all are concerned about Mother Planet - ‘The Earth’. And, we do our best to save our planet in whatever capacity we can do in our day-to-day life.

To further support this, we have got a wonderful platform as a Google Maps through which we can help the environment. Even our small contribution will make a difference.

As an inherit habit, I always update the sustainability attributes religiously for the place I visit. I go to their Google Maps url and using Edit features under the About tab, update the Recycling attributes.

Even I ensure answering the questions about Recycling.

What I discovered now is a Sustainable solution for plastic wastes at the point of consumption itself. During my recent visit to Mahakumbh 2025, I found this amazing solution installed at Prayagraj Junction.

Here, I discovered a Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) installed at Platform Number 6 to provide the sustainable solution to used plastics wastes and cans. This machine accepts empty and old PET bottles and then provides Incentives to the recycler. They have named this program as Recycle & Earn Program (REEA). The users have to insert their empty plastic bottles/cans into the RVM, key-in their mobile number, and the machine will calculate refund value/green points which will be accumulated against their Mobile Number. This can further be redeemed at the in-store or e-store. Sometimes, this refund value also goes to the charity.

This also helps in keeping the environment safe and maintain sustainability by reducing excess fuel consumption in transport and virgin material and helps in source segregation.

This encourages us to be morally and socially more responsible citizens towards our Mother Planet - ‘The Earth’.

Although when I tried using RVM, it was in offline mode but I am sure if this practice gets implemented at all public places, we are further going to make our environment safe for everyone. This simple act of ours will lay down the bright foundation for our coming generation to enjoy and live on this planet.

Since, recycling attributes for this place was not available on Google Maps, I could not edit this feature but I have uploaded the photo to this place with RVM to help visitors know and follow the steps.

I am focussed and observant to discover and share on Reduce, Reuse and Recycle :recycling_symbol: attributes on Google Maps for the places I visit.

What is your take on this to help the environment on Google Maps on the topic Recycle to Save Earth to Save Yourself. Please share in the comment box.

With this post, I am also requesting @DeniGu to please consider my request to include Sustainability as one of the tags on Connect.

Thank you @Kumaarsantosh for giving us insights about recycle and a voice for sustainability. In Google Maps, “answers” ask us whether a business take plastics or electronics for recycle. Bringing sustainability tag to Connect, indeed helps the community!

These machines are completely new for me @Kumaarsantosh @Rahul001, and haven’t yet come across one in India.

But I am in full support of having more and more of these at prominent places :+1:

Great post raising awareness and educating about sustainability :bouquet:

I am pleased to read your feelings. Thanks for supporting the cause @Rahul001.

Yes…that’s right and hence mentioned here also.

Thanks for echoing for Sustainability tag on Connect.

This is not very new in India but yes it is not widely installed and implemented.

I saw this machine last year at Helipad Terminal, Katra, Jammu, India.

And, when I saw this again at Prayagraj Junction, Uttar Pradesh, India, I captured and studied about this. If implemented in its spirit, it is going to be a game changer for Recycle to Save Earth to Save Yourself.

Thank you so much @TusharSuradkar for appreciating and showing your support.

That’s a good way to minimize the wastes. I am sure, if someone doesn’t want to return and get the refund, must be putting it somewhere for the recycling purpose.

Thank you so much @Annaelisa for sharing this insight for glass bottles.

I can understand what @Annaelisa has described since I have seen this machine in Germany. My host showed us how to operate them and get a little refund for used bottles :money_bag:

Recycling bottles is a great way to reduce waste and help the environment. @Kumaarsantosh
I usually paint glass bottles or give them to the bottle collectors to ensure they are reused properly. I also spotted a recycling machine at Kalyan Railway Station, but sadly, it was turned off after just a few months. It would be great if such initiatives lasted longer!

This is another a great way to reuse the plastic bottles @SaylliWalve1. Thanks for sharing this here. If you could share a photo of one of your paintings that would be a great demonstartion for others to follow the footstep.

Yes- I am totally in agreement with you. It’s not a one time installation activity but in spirit this has to be maintained and practiced.
