Fathala Wildlife Reserve is a very popular zoo for tourist on holiday in The Gambia. It is located in Senegal which shares boarders with Gambia on all three sides except the western part. Although it is not located in The Gambia, three out of five tourist visits this zoo during their course of their holiday in The Gambia.
The zoo provides different services like Safari Walk which entails roaming the entire zoo in a Land Rover pickup to spot out the different animals the zoo accommodates, ranging from Rhinos, Zebras, Gazelles, Buffalos, Giraffes, and a host of other animals.
The most exciting tour I enjoyed about Fathala is the Lion walk. The Lion Walk is a 45 minutes stroll with Lions that are tamed at an infant age. It is the part that is fearful as you are with close proximity with the Lions which some visitors feel very uncomfortable as a new experience.
My visit to Fathala was a lifetime experience that I will never forget as it paved the way for me to see real life Lions. The experience has given courage to my friends to decide to visit the zoo one day so that they could experience what I experienced for the first time in my life
Wow, this is so cool that you have been so close to a living wild animal, especially to a lion. Sorry, not one but two lions. That’s incredible @YusuphaFatajo ! I completely agree with the part that you said that the people who are experiencng this for the first time will be a little afraid, I’m probably going to be one of them, but the most spectacular thing is that you look at peace.

Wow really strange to be so comfortable with those wild big cats in that proximity. Not in our parts of the world you can’t give your back to that predator. As you say they were tamed . Thank you so much @YusuphaFatajo for such a close photo shot over here you will be a hero with super natural powers to be able to achieve that.
That’s a nice and really brave cover photo @YusuphaFatajo . And you calling them “friendly lions” shows your courage. Would really like to visit Fathala Wildlife Reserve once. Thanks for the recap post.
Thank you for the comment @chinyama . At first, I was very scared to even approach the lions but with the advice from the guides I was able to walk with the lions and others who were part of the walk follow suit .
