Later, I also saw yellow colored bamboo (Golden Bamboo) while visiting Dipta Orchids in Bhaluka, Mymensingh district, Bangladesh. The yellow colored bamboo is long and thick. Being yellow in color, this bamboo looks very beautiful from a distance. I learned from another article that in Indonesia, yellow bamboo is believed to ward off evil spirits. In China and India, yellow bamboo is also touted for its medicinal benefits. Once boiled, the shoots are edible and are often consumed to reduce cholesterol, treat uric acid, and relieve coughing.
Golden bamboo (Phyllostachys aurea) is native to southeast China, and has been cultivated in Japan for centuries. Thatâs why it also called as Japanese bamboo in locally.
