What is the purpose of meme’s on Google Maps? I see a place that exist but is not a factual business as a listing. It’s listed as a meme or token of sorts if you read the reviews. It’s meme mapping basically on one street with two close stair rails that are not businesses and serve no purposes. The listing repeatedly uses the same image from different filters and users but same exact image overlayed. I’m all about leveling up if this is a test trial or 3d feature but if it’s not, it should not be listed to the commons. Reported with no changes.
@TiffanyStockstill Those kind of stuff definitely don’t belong in Google Maps. I just checked the links you posted and looks like they’re gone already.
Can you guys remove this post? Not trying to get spammed from the Memes. I reported using Maps as business or listing doesn’t exist here. Also reported as spam on listing in maps . Reported users showing in the Explore repeatedly with same image obviously not in the same zone.
@MortenCopenhagen Whats the point of using reporting in Google Maps then? I reported several times. I’ve remained on the trusted list I’m assuming, so If I report something as not legit in Maps because it’s not legit, but it’s denied each time, what’s the purpose of reporting? Additionally I realize Maps uses certain model training, they need to be adjusted around their main contributors that repeatedly show authenticity and honesty. Thanks for the help. I’m watching back to the future. Catch you guys later. Stay awesome.
Updating again for the poor grammar. Link should be fixed.
@MortenCopenhagen Just an after thought. I did create this listing on maps See West Lakefront Playground .Both Memes were listed within proximity of less than 2 miles. Additionally the park has the same spam image but still spammed with meme users if you look at the reviews and pics . Basically look at the listing you see the spam images as the same from the two originally mentioned.
@TiffanyStockstill just want to add, we don’t know exactly who’s in the “trusted list” or if there’s even such a thing. At this point there’s no point of trying to find out how the confidence level is being generated because Google will not reveal their algorithm, since it can be abused in wrong hands. What we can do is to keep making sure all of our contributions are high quality and accurate.
Maybe local guides can create an event dedicated to reporting this type of stuff for a weekend or short period of time to get the list of issues reported by the community and work it out from there instead of users having to post each occurrence. Just found the meme locations interesting . Google algo isn’t doing that great if it isn’t catching this type of repeat image and verbal usage on the meme listings or maybe its part of another program . Who knows but thanks for the responses and explanations. If there is a meme challenge let me know
