Google Shadow Ban?

Hello there, I was directed to this website to ask about my concerns.

I have been on many trips lately and left so many reviews on businesses however I have noticed that my recent reviews are not showing up at all. Can someone help me check if I broke any rules or how to unshadow ban my profile? Thanks!

Yes, quite a few of your reviews are currently taken down.

Your Maps profile text suggest that you are a pro writing reviews to generate income. That would be an issue as brands and businesses are not compatible with being in the Local Guides program.

Also, if you are publishing your reviews elsewhere the spamfilter is very good at spotting what it considers “stolen” texts.

Let me know if this sounds like a probable cause.

Hello Morten, thanks for replying!

I might have to change my profile as I earn 0 income writing reviews. We work with businesses but I am against writing reviews for brands that we work with to avoid conflicts.

I also use AI to help me polish the heavy amount of reviews I am writing these days, do you have any suggestions on how to resolve issues of my reviews taken down as I have not been notified which is which and so I don’t know what to fix? Also on newer ones not appearing, my reviews are of personal experiences so clearly the text shouldn’t be categorized stolen, also proven by photos too.

Besides @MortenCopenhagen’s explanations, I noticed only 822 out of your 1,349 photos are public. If only a single photo attached to a review is rejected by the SPAM filter, the entire review is hidden.
So the first step to investigate, should be to remove all photos from a review and watch if text-only is accepted. If so, you can either add the photos again to review one by one or directly to the listing, which gives an easier way to control what is rejected.
Also the birg percentage of hidden reviews and media might play a role for the SPAM filter to refuse more or all in the future.

Please make sure your Maps profile is not associating you with being a professional reviewer to prevent issues.

If you want to identify which of your reviews are hidden, check this post.

Read about typical review guideline violations here. And checkout my super short post called 4 Tips on writing better reviews.

And let me know if this gives you some ideas as to what could be the problem. Then I can try to analyse your reviews. And recommend a next step.

Morten, the link seems to be broken
Did you mean this one instead? Or this?

I meant the latter:

I’m converting my old macros, and the transition is not going as smoothly as I had hoped for.

Hello Wilfried!

Thanks for the additional info and taking the time to check the photo # discrepancy, that sure sounds like a lot has been filtered out. I have decided to just let it be for now and probably take a break from writing anything in the mean time. Too much hassle to do the edits tbh. Cheers!

Very well noted, Morten. It seems very manual to figure out and make edits. However, I do understand the measures taken as it could be rather stressful to go back and forth especially out of having to relive or reconnect with the source of negative experiences.

I may just lay low and see for now, thanks again for the replies. Have a wonderful day/night.
