Gurudwara Rakab Ganj in Delhi - Spacious and Spiritual

Yesterday I visited the Rakab Ganj Gurudwara and found that it was the most spacious Gurudwaras located in the heart of Delhi just behind the parliament building.

The designs on the ceiling are breathtakingly beautiful.

The special feature is the Chandelier that was huge and glittering.

This is the place just below the main Gurugranth and has 3-4 staircases to access and take the Darshan.

The premises are all made in white marble that is a treat to the eyes providing a very soothing expereince.

The backside door is made of Silver.

This is the glorious view from the west side.

The main entrance to the Gurudwara has a hand wash area and a staircase with steel railings.

This is the amazing view of the marble structure from the southeast side.

While moving around I saw a huge branch falling off a tree. I have never seen such a huge branch before let alone falling off.

This is the view from the north side.

The Gurudwara Rakab Ganj has super spacious parking that is well-paved.

The shoe stand is huge and free. It is called Joda Ghar, where Joda means footwear.

Also near the entrance is an open Char-Khamba Pavillion.

The artwork on the walls of the pavilion is captivating.

Here cool water is served for everyone free of cost as part of the Seva by the Sikh community.

The Rakab Ganj Gurudwara in Delhi is drenched in peace and spirituality and brought much calm and peace to the mind.

How to Reach

I would have loved to reach there on my bike but it is now more than 20 years old and vehicles older than 15 years are not allowed on Delhi roads anymore.

So I took a metro from IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram on the Yellow Line and deboarded at Central Secretariat station in Delhi and took an AutoRickshaw for INR 50 to reach the Gurudwara.

The Gurudwara is fully accessible right from the entrance through its various parts.

There are spare wheelchairs available for those who need them.

Ramps are everywhere that can easily accommodate a wheelchair to be able to take the Darshan and also move around.

Here’s a snapshot

You are right, @RosyKohli I also heard about this Gurudwara in Delhi newspapers for their immense work in the Covid situation hence decided to visit it yesterday.

No, I did not have the prasad and langar as I think of it as more necessary for the hungry and the needful, so normally skip it after the Darshan.

@TusharSuradkar Thanks for sharing the awesome pics and story of Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib. It is more fruitful if you take Prashada and Langer. Your thought that it is best for needy is also appreciable but you can visits there to share some more remarkable expression. There are fully automatic plants for preparation of Prashada and Langer in the Gurudwara. The cleanliness of all the premises as well as Langer hall is worth to watch. Thousands of devotees can take Langer in a one time slot.

Thank you for the advice @JSharma Ji

I am seriously not interested in Langar and Prasad.

I normally donate to the Langar and Khada Prasad counters in Gurudwaras.

Regarding the list that you generously provided, I have been to most of them and the rest are not worth visiting.

If you look at my profile page or set Delhi as your favorite city on your own profile page, you will note that I have visited 100+ best places in Delhi.

It is now time to move back to my home town Pune so may be the other place the next time

You have uncountable shrines and temples, I don’t really know which one to go if I have a chance because they are just beautiful in their own ways @TusharSuradkar

You are right in that @Sophia_Cambodia

It is time to head back to my home of Pune far away in the western part of India and haven’t yet finished visiting the awesome places in this single city of Delhi.

Dear @TusharSuradkar

The design of the building from the outside has a regal feel.

It was great to see the wheelchair rap on the side of the stairs, which is really great.

Thank you so much for Gurudwara Rakab Ganj sharing with us.

I saw in a photo of your post that a tree has fallen. Is it because of the yaas cider that happened a few days ago?

Thank you @KamalHossenR

I think so, there was another disturbance and strong winds from the Arabian Sea on the western coast that occurred within the same week.

Together they got a huge branch down. We even had one window pane broken in my house. The winds were too strong.
