HIDDEN PROFILES SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RATE + Fix Your Email Header MAPS

Why is it that Google is leaving 1 Star Reviews to (Removed Google Because This is Incorrect, I meant) Businesses listed on Google

First and foremost the header is wrong on the notification and should be addressed immediately especially since scripts and sythetic profiles are being used heavily in crawling , spam and training, and learning; this could affect a user or entity with false algorithums associated from headliners or screen readers in search output for page rankings or user suggested, additionally GOOGLE maps should NOT allow hidden Profiles to post ratings or reviews. It’s an Open Source Community of TRUE HUMANS THAT CONTRIBUTE HONESTLY AND AUTHENTICALLY.

Hidden profiles should be for the bot crawelers or hidden agendas not posted publically creating unfair waves of madness. Thanks :eyes:

Hi @TiffanyStockstill ,

Google didn’t leaved a review in that business itself. I have few questions:

  1. Is it your own business?
  2. Why you think reviews or buisnesses are hidden?

I will be tagging @ErmesT , as he may have better answer. Also Tag you placed is not matching with the content of your post!

I don’t think so @WilfriedB as I seen this “Google user” account often. I think they are not in Local guides program.

Correct @Rahul001, I overlooked the “user” in the name.

Thanks of the tag, @Rahul001
Interesting point, @TiffanyStockstill .
Unfortunately I don’t have experience about the GBP interface, so I don’t know what kind of notification a Business receive when they receive a review.
IMHO your question will fit better on the GBP help Community: https://support.google.com/business/community

What I know is that for some types of businesses, such as hotels and hospitality businesses, Google Maps sources reviews even when they come from other platforms. In that case, to clarify where the review comes from, Google Maps identifies the source. One of the sources, as you can see below, could be Google, meaning that the review was left on Google Maps.

Of course I don’t know if this is your case. I think @JannellCH can help you better than me in this.

Regarding the Local Guides aspect (hidden account) as far as I know this is not possible.
The only two things that come to mind are:

  • The user uses Google as their username. A username filter would prevent this unpleasant experience, but I’ve seen so many “banned” names and avatars in Google Maps that I think these are rules that are declared but never actually applied.
  • The user gave the rating and then deleted the account. In this case I can imagine that Google would still send you a notification

Of course I can only imagine. Please Tiffany, can you privately send me the user’s profile, if available, or the link to the business?

@Rahul001 @WilfriedB The Point is the Title of Email Notification
“Google Left You A 1 Star Review” can be confusing to systems , machines and humans alike especially for screen readers. The user is a Hidden Profile. Hidden profiles should not be allowed to contribute to Google. It doesn’t provide fairness or authenticity to those of us who use Maps honestly. @ErmesT I sent you a message. Additionally I could push this to the Help Community. I believe there are other hybrid style users such as myself that are authentic Lg’s that use the system authentically and honestly without manipulation but manage their business listings as well. Google clearly provides the separation in app and on desktop. A review of my Google maps logs will show I keep all contributions and management separated and only provide honest edits. The main purpose of the post is to ensure accuracy in contributions to the Google Maps systems and community.

Dear @TiffanyStockstill , that user reviewed before he deleted the account or get banned. So the name will be “Google user”.

@ErmesT clearly removed that doubt

By the way, what is hybrid style users?

So users can rate local businesses 1 star then immediatly delete. This poses the question on lag time of notifications from Google Maps to Businesses additionally not implementing immediate removal from Users that are creating fake ratings? Okay I guess?

Hybrid, A mixture in application or cross systems. I have to manage my local listing. I also contribute to maps as a singular person not associated with my business.

Thanks for your DM, @TiffanyStockstill
That Local Guide do exists, and is using Google User as a username, @Rahul001

Keeping your account private is a choice permitted by Google to protect the privacy of users, so that no one can be able to see the contributions in their profile, even if of course the contributions are visible in the listings where they contribute

I can imagine many reasons for keeping a profile private, including personal safety. A friend of mine (and Local Guide) made her profile private after being assaulted and subjected to domestic violence by her ex-husband, to name one extreme case. A sad case to mention, on March 8th.
However, the hidden account, associated with a non-real username, is often also a practice associated with illegal behavior in Google Maps. When they are associated with a simple “rating” without any word of text they can be particularly harmful, as it is difficult for a filter to determine whether that rating is appropriate or not. A rating can often do more damage than a review.

You can of course report the review from your GBP profile, but I doubt that since it is a simple rating Google can do much.

On my side I will report the Local Guide because it uses the text Google in the name, and this is not allowed, and I will ask to verify its reviews.

There are more than you think, Tiffany.
Google policy only prohibits promoting your business with your Local Guide account, but there is nothing wrong with business owners being Local Guides. In fact, many of them are great Local Guides, because they have a better understanding of what is appropriate to publish in a Google Maps Listing
