Hike in Snowy Mountains

We took a hike to Morteratsch Glacier, as we hopped off the Bernina Train in the Morteratsch stop. We learned that it took 50 minutes to walk to the Glacier. The view of the snow covered mountains were breathtaking. The air was fresh, the sound of the water stream was very calming and the blue sky with a touch of white clouds made it the perfect combination for the perfect trip. One of the most memorable moments during our hike is running into an elderly couple on our way back to the station. They have walked roughly 15 minutes when they told us that when they visited this place 60 years ago, the Glacier is where we standing at that moment. Since then the Glacier shrank to the point that now we need to 4 more kilometres to reach its base in comparison to 60 years ago. The effects of Global warming was right in front of us and this was merely a reminder of how much our globe have changed because of it.
