Hong Kong's GOLF Courses

I met one friendly old couple from North Carolina when I played golf in Ka Olina Hawaii this January. They were retried and enjoying golf trips here and there as golf travellers. One question they came up was does Hong Kong have golf course at all, as most people usually presume Hong Kong, as one of the world’s financial centre, are full of pricey skyscrapers and therefore it must be a luxury to have any golf course there. However, Hong Kong does have some good golf courses, as I answered them.

Hong Kong have one public golf course called Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course which is located at Sai Kung. It is built on top of a beautiful island only 20 minutes ferry away from the Sai Kung city centre, which makes it a perfect golf hideaway for busy Hong Kong people. It is also quite big - contains three courses: East, North and South. With a valid handicap, both local players and foreign visitors can enjoy the golf there, though prior booking is strongly recommended especially during weekends.

Besides, Hong Kong also have five private golf courses: the Clear Water Bay golf and country club , the Hong Kong golf clubs (one is at Fanling that holds the HK Open every year and another at deep water bay with 9 holes only), and Shek O golf & country club at Shek O, and the Discovery Bay golf club at Lantau island. Normally, those courses are open to members only, but they sometimes are open to visitors.

More details are available on their website and hotlines, and there are useful info and news on Hong Kong Golf Association websites too. I won’t bother to post their lengthy links here because google is your friend ?
