We’re always inspired by how much Local Guides across the globe champion inclusivity and support the LGBTQ+ community. From the United States to India, you bring visibility to businesses and places that are LGBTQ+ and transgender friendly, helping millions around the world to find great, safe spaces.
Pride Month may be coming to a close, but the community and businesses that bring joy and allow for authenticity need support all year round. One of the easiest ways to show that a place is LGBTQ+ friendly is by updating the available features on their business profile in Maps. You can add the “LGBTQ+ friendly” and “Transgender safespace” features in four simple steps:
Find a Business Profile on Google Maps mobile.
Select About in the tabs bar, then tap Edit features (for Android) or Update this place (for iOS).
Scroll to Crowd and tap More to expand the list.
Tap the check mark next to the descriptions and submit.
You can also tell business owners about the “LGBTQ+ friendly,” “Transgender Safe Space,” and “LGBTQ+ owned” attributes, available in different countries. Verified merchants can visit the Help Center to learn how to add these attributes to their Business Profile. These attributes will appear in Maps and Search, helping the businesses stand out to customers and providing another way for the LGBTQ+ community to find safe spaces.
These are just some of the ways to “Find Pride” all year round. Discover more content and opportunities across Google in this Keyword article.
Local Guides, we’d love to hear from you! Have you ever updated a business’s features on Maps? How do you support LGBTQ+ businesses and communities? Let us know below.
Yes dear @TiffanyBnyc whenever I got chance talk to business owner i always educated about Google business owner profile features.& Google Map features & benefits. Anyway thanks for sharing with us.
Thank for sharing with us @TiffanyBnyc in pride month. This feature does help Lgbtq+ community in a big way. Is the " transgender safespace" new to the edit feature?
Thank you @TiffanyBnyc for this post and great tips on how we can use the About tab on mobile to indicate that businesses are LGBTQ+ friendly and stand out to customers as well as providing another way for the LGBTQ+ community to find safe spaces. I just know that many fellow Local Guides will make use of these features to indicate LGBTQ+ friendly places.
Thank you @TiffanyBnyc for the informative post with helpful steps. I will be happy to educate business owners about LGBTQ+ friendly attribute and I will continue to add this feature.
Thanks for this lovely highlight @TiffanyBnyc !! I love Pride month and it’s great to see a lot of positive and affirmative messaging across the internet. And needless to say, having such feature in Google Maps is a great way to support the LGBTQ+ business owners and the community! And I’m super happy to see Manchester’s popular Gay Village being featured in this post! Yay!! Or should it be, Yaaasssssss Queen!!! Slay! Slay!!
And I think it’s incredible that companies are speaking out about safety and embracing the LGBTQIA+ community, especially because many still feel insecure in their own homes, and don’t know if they will be accepted in the outside world.
We are all thinking beings, and we have to support all people to live their lives in the best way possible, and with the best of their choices.
Excellent share for this feature @TiffanyBnyc . I really love how it allows us to add if a place is LGBTQ friendly through the Edit Features. Your quick and short visual article tutorial was really helpful.
Thank you for this amazing post, @TiffanyBnyc ! Supporting LGBTQ+ businesses and communities in my country is vital, especially where visibility and acceptance can be challenging due to the lack of official support for LGBTQ+ rights. However, I always try to make a conscious effort to highlight LGBTQ+ friendly POIs by reviewing them and including as many details as possible.
