As a moderator and enthusiastic traveler, I often insist local guides add the Google Maps link to a place they shared on Connect.
Sometimes I get replies saying ‘I don’t know how to share the link’.
Here’s a quick tutorial to get a place’s Google Maps link and share it in a Connect post.
On a Desktop Computer.
Step1. Once you find the place on Google Maps, click the share button.
This should pop up a window with the link or URL of the place on Google Maps.
Copy the link from here.
Step2. In your Connect post, click the Hyperlink icon or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl K.
Tip: You can preselect a text in the post to attach the Google Maps link to the text.
In the ‘Insert Hyperlink’ dialog that appears, type the text
Note: If you have preselected text in the previous step, it will automatically displayed here.
Then paste the copied link or URL in the field below it.
Step3. Click OK and the Google Maps Link will be inserted in your post.
Hint: Click the ‘Show Preview’ button below your post to see what the linked text looks like in your post to viewers.
