What is Amrit Udyan?
Introduction:
Amrit Udyan is a beautifully designed garden located within Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. Known for its breathtaking floral arrangements and Mughal-inspired landscaping, it is one of India’s most iconic gardens.
History & Name Change:
Previously called the Mughal Gardens, it was renamed Amrit Udyan in 2023 as part of India’s cultural heritage revitalization. The garden was originally designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in the early 20th century, drawing inspiration from Mughal, Persian, and British garden styles.
Features:
Floral Variety: Home to thousands of tulips, roses, marigolds, and seasonal flowers.
Themed Gardens: Includes the Circular Garden, Herbal Garden, Bonsai Garden, and Butterfly Garden.
Water Fountains & Canals: Adds to the serenity of the place.
Biodiversity: Features rare and indigenous plant species, along with fountains that enhance its charm.
Visiting Information: Entry is from Gate No. 35 of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on North Avenue Road and although the entry free of cost we have to register online or at the kiosk.
