Is it quicker and better to delete my old review, and write a new review, for one of my reviews that has been removed in error?
It has been four weeks since I submitted the form Account investigation for contributions not visible on Google Maps, for the review to be reinstated, but my review has not yet been reinstated/published, nor have I received a response from Google. The issue is simple – I deleted three old photos from an existing review; the machine learning algorithms caused the review to be removed in error and placed in spam; and a human is needed to correct this and reinstate the review.
I used to submit these issues to the Executive Escalation Team of the Google Support Team at edge-support@google.com, which has resolved the removal of my Google Maps reviews and reinstated my reviews within a day, as far back as August 30, 2023. However, this service no longer appears to be active.
As a Local Guide Level 6, my review needs be reinstated, so that people may receive timely information and benefit from it. There is no way for me to know if I will ever receive a response from Google – there has to be a better way. What should I do to have my review promptly reinstated?
Please be aware that the team may take several weeks to analyse your review. In my case I waited eight weeks.
Deleting the review and submitting it again can be an option, but it is exactly like editing an existing review. Both will be checked in the same way, and if the content that triggered the filter is not removed the review will be made private again.
A review can be blocked for several different reasons, not just related to the text. A review can be blocked also because the filter considers as “not appropriate” one of the media attached to the review.
What I usually do when one of my reviews is blocked is to delete all the media attached. If the review is not posted, I edit the text. If the review is published, I start to attach, one by one, all the media, to find the one that is triggering the filter
@ErmesT reg “… Both will be checked in the same way”: I’d assume, posting exactly the same again, carries the additional risk to flagged as SPAM just because it was posted twice. Deleting the original post, doesn’t necessarily imply, it will be invisible for the filter or any human operators.
If I understood @BruC correctly, the post was originally accepted a while ago, but now, after removing one or more media, it became hidden. If so, there is also an explanation why: Just because the file is self learning, it is permanently learning, discovering new criteria as suspected SPAM.
One more hint regarding " I edit the text.":
After removing all media, I was successful in the past by removing half of the text repeatedly until it was accepted. Then adding sentence by sentence again and then word by word.
Hi @ErmesT . You wrote @Samuel_Blanc that “I just released your post from spam quarantine. Our filter is working to protect the community and you from unwanted content, but sometimes it can be triggered by something and remove a legitimate post. Moderators are patrolling the quarantine to release the good post so, if your post has been rejected, don’t post it again.” My review/post was already accepted when it was hidden by deleting old photos.
Can you release my post from the spam quarantine, as you previouslydid? Would @Ivi_Ge be able to release my post from the quarantine?
That message is related to Connect, where we have a filter too to remove unwanted contents.
There are no posts written by you on the quarantine.
If you are asking me to release a review posted in Maps, this is something we can’t do it. Time by time I have to fill the appeal form too, for the relevant team to check my reviews.
Connect Moderators are Local Guides like you and me, and are volunteer that help Google’s moderator to moderate Connect.
Hi @ErmesT, When you to fill out the appeal form, how do ensure that the relevant team is checking your reviews?
@TraciC writes, “You may see other Googlers on Connect, but the Google Moderators listed in this post should be who you contact should you need urgent assistance.” How can Google Moderators, such as @AngieYC , be brought in to help expedite my request to reinstate my review?

In my case the team released my review after 8 weeks, @BruC , as I mentioned in my first reply.
The tool to ask the team to check your review is the form you filled out already.
You will not receive a feedback from the team, but your review will be checked. Tagging a Google Moderator of Connect will not help to accelerate the verification, so I suggest you to be patient.
