Locating the edits on map.

We are able to see the location of our edits by taping the name of the edits(for eg. As shown in picture, “Unnamed Road”). Most of the time it shows the actual location of the edits but some time I am facing the problem as the location is redirected to 0N,0E. I use to see the location of edits (which edits got approved or rejected) as I am doing lots of editing in different places.

When we edit a place and set the map marker then we get the map contact number on the map. As a my knowledge your edit live on map.

Thanks.

@ShailendraOjha yes it is live as it got approved but I wanted to know which one of the edits I had made is approved. I had done many edits in different locations. I used to check my edits by locating the coordinates of the edits. In this case I am unable to do so.

You can visit the Google support team.

Hi @Pration_Paudel

Did you notice that the email notifications are now back to the old design. This means we again can click to see the location from the emails.

Maybe this can serve as a useful workaround for you?

Cheers

Sometimes system thinks your addition is a duplicate and do merging with other place, that’s the meaning of 0N,0E in general!

@VishalSaini

That means someone has already posted the edit before me ? So when approved, my edit coordinate is shown 0N,0E?

Hi @Pration_Paudel

The edit is appearing on the coordinated 0:0 in two specifica cases:

  • When a place is removed from Google Maps
  • When a place is merged on another one, like @VishalSaini said. In this case the 0:0 location is temporary (a few days) due to the merge activity made by Google Maps in background

Can you please share some information about the type of edit you made and the link to the listing that is appearing at 0:0? This will help to give a more specific answer to you.

Thanks

Actually, the edit is (road doesn’t exist) about a road passing through private property (it is my assumption as in regards to the coordinates of approved edits done at the time ). So I have deleted it. Have a look at the screen shot above.

Ok, @Pration_Paudel , this is the first case in my example.

Once a place is removed the coordinates moves by default to 0:0, because the place or the road is no longer in Google Maps.

However a road passing through a private property should not be removed, but simply flagged as “private”.

In this way Maps will keep track of the existence of the road, but will exclude it from the navigation.

Q) That means someone has already posted the edit before me ?

Ans) No

@ErmesT

The term “private property” I used before was meant to describe that the road was drawn as it was passing above the residential building and through agricultural land ( it was like the road was flying in the air ; not an actual road but which was drawn by mistake.)

Thanks for the clarification, @Pration_Paudel .

Most probably was probably automatically acquired by Google in the past, when Google Maps made an attempt for the automatic acquisition of the roads. That system had a lot of glitches and was quickly abandoned, because time by time it was joining pieces of legitimate roads with a straight line, passing over land and buildings. In any case the answer is the same: when something is deleted, the coordinates are removed, so you will be addressed to 0:0, in the middle of the ocean

Hi @Pration_Paudel , I don’t have a solution for you, but I’d point out to @ErmesT that here is another example where the old Map process of putting a Pin on edits as you hovered over them could fix the issue.
