Connect Moderators are Local Guides just like you and me. They apply the knowledge they’ve gained as active members of our community to moderate Connect and help improve the experience for everyone. You may see them welcoming newcomers, explaining the program, answering questions, and sharing their knowledge with others.
Each month, we share some personal insights from one of our amazing Connect Moderators. This month, meet Naresh ( @NareshDarji ). Naresh lives inGandhinagar, India, and speaks Gujarati, Hindi, and English.

Location: I currently live in the capital city of Gujarat state, Gandhinagar
What I love about being a Local Guide: “Happy to help” is my life mantra. The joy of helping others is different. The Local Guides program is a medium through which I can realize my life mantra and help many people indirectly through my contributions.
Why I’m a Connect Moderator: I enjoy meeting new people and learning about their countries and cultures. Local Guides Connect is a platform that brings together people like me, allowing us to share our ideas, stories, and experiences.
I enjoy welcoming new Local Guides and encouraging them to make meaningful contributions to this global family.
My favorite things to explore: Being a nature and wildlife enthusiast, I prefer traveling and visiting peaceful places like forests, which are beautiful and secluded. I also like to explore historical locations.
My favorite type of contribution(s) to make on Google Maps: My favorite contribution is adding new places on Google Maps. By adding small businesses and important places, I’m able to help many people in my region. I also like to add photographs.
Languages I read/speak/write fluently: Gujarati is my native language. I also use Hindi and English for daily communication.
Places I’d like to visit: There are so many places on my wish list. But Switzerland is on top of it. Following my involvement in the #StateChallenge virtual meet-up series, I have a great desire to visit some fascinating places in the United States, too.
Fun fact about me: Once, I followed a lion barefoot for approximately two kilometers (thankfully, the forest guard was with me) in one of the famous national parks in Gujarat, Gir National Park. I was thrilled.
