My Funny Story With Google Maps & Why I love Contributing to It!

I’m living in an old Roman city in Tunisia called El Jem, which is the country n°1 tourist attraction according to TripAdvisor.

I remember in the past, all the time tourists stop us local people to ask for directions to a Museum or a train station, and I’ve been in this situations dozens and dozens of times!

Although I’m more than happy to help, sometimes I found an issue to guide tourists who only speak their native language! For instance I don’t speak German, Russian, or Japanese! And the funny thing about this is that both the tourists and I use the sign language to understand each other!

So once I said why don’t they just use Google Maps instead of asking people around? As this is how I personally navigate whenever I travel!

When I’ve checked my city on Google Maps I was astonished that there’s just a couple of locations indicated, with one major attraction in the city, which is an archaeological museum, was mislocated!

From that moment I decided to add as much as I can of places in my city, and also edit the mislocated ones.

So I started adding all the archaeological locations , cafes, restaurants, hotels, local businesses, and whatever I can add!

My main goal was that I give all the tourists and visitors to my city the best experience ever by finding whatever place they are looking for on Google Maps, and also discover new locations that they might not heard of before.

I’m so happy now that people started to write their reviews on the places I’ve added, and that they are enjoying their time. And mostly never get confused when looking for a museum or a train station, it’s in front of their eyes now on Google Maps.
