[RECAP] Devil Stairs, Bakers Bend Photo Tour

It is sunny morning in Meepilimana, Nuwara Eliya and It is my 1st Meet-up which I’m hosting as Photo Walk by Motorbike. We are only 2 for the team as Local Guides my self with Amila Wijeesooriya and also 2 other friends (Niluka & Namal) as Bike Riders.

Start point was the BOC Meepilimana. It is a well-known place in Meepilimana. (Start Point) Sharp 8.00AM we gathered here as riders with all safety items and the 100% running condition motorbikes with a full tank of fuel.

As the 1st point, we had Rotti with so hot Chilli Sambal & Dhal curry as our breakfast. It is best for the weather at that time and it also energized four of us.

Then the journey began. As 1st Photo point, I have chosen Pattipola Railway Station. It was my lucky time to catch up a Train at that time. Then, passed Ambewela Railway Station and updated Maps with the latest photos. Amila also doing the Map Photo updating when we stop for the capturing on every time. Then gone through Horton Plains National Park also with updating google maps photos and questions need to be updated. All of these included in my RECAP video at the end of the post.

After Horton Plains National Park, we headed to Devil’s Stairs through heavily damaged road and it is the worst road I had driven my Motorbike. If you wish to see the Devil’s Stairs please use 4x4 vehicle or use off-road Bikes. This road named as Ohiya, Kalupahana Road and road’s Kalupahana end (near Bumbarakanda Fall section) is currently on rehabilitating via iRoads 2 (Uva Province) Road Development Program which is funded by ADB.

When we arrive at the tallest fall in Sri Lanka (Bambarakanda fall), It is heavy rain and we have no cover to hide from the rain. But near the Entry Ticket Counter, we found a small tea shop and the owning lady allow four of us to enter her hut and get hidden from that nasty rain. Wait for another 30 minutes in that hut, but the rain not going away. So we started our journey again without taking photos on that point. But I have got a small video clip and it is also included in the RECAP video.

As a final point, we headed to Baker’s Bend which has the best view of 3 provinces. But in the Estate Entry gate, the watcher said the Estate (Nonperial Estate) is closed for visitors as higher management decisions.

Then we turn back to our night stay which we used last night at Meepilimana.

The whole journey went as planned and all the four members happy about the photo tour, the two riders got knowledge about google maps and it uses when travelling across the island and other my self & Amilawe earned good contributions to google maps as Local Guides.

Enjoy the RECAP Video.
