Recap: [Hybrid] India, February 09, Fire Museum Accessibility Check

Today’s meetup is a new experiment in the history of meetups on Connect.
We introduced a new meetup type called the ‘Collaborative Meetup’. :people_hugging:

  1. In this, the host is present at the meetup venue.

  2. Whereas the co-host is in his or her ‘Command and Control Center’ computer hosting a Google Meet.

  3. The co-host starts the meeting and local guides can join the meeting.

  4. They start discussing and introductions, play quiz games exchange ideas, and tips ‘n’ tricks about Google Maps and Connect.

  5. The host then joins the virtual meeting and shows them around the place like the museum in today’s case.

  6. After about 15-20 minutes, the host leaves the meetup and the online meeting concludes later.

  7. The host and other local guides proceed with the meetup on the ground and return home after that.

This solves the huge hassle of the host managing both the online and offline meetings.

This idea is the brainchild of @TravellerG who has been pushing for this for a long time.
This was a big success, as I felt greatly relieved at the museum in Pune today.

Abhishek - the tour guide at the Pune Fire Brigade Museum greeted me today morning and led me to the free parking.

The parking, the main entrance of the museum campus, the museum galleries, and the entrance of the galleries were all leveled and accessible for a wheelchair.

Later @Ketan_Kangankar joined with his family and we started the tour of the museum.

The museum tour guide Abhishek took us through a deep dive into the techniques of firefighting.

He explained every piece of equipment in detail.
Especially, the different types of knots on a rope were interesting.

I am posing with my brand new t-shirt with the 10-Year Celebration of Google Local Guides, designed by @NareshDarji and printed by @Ptrivedi - Thank you guys… :handshake:

In the background is the main attraction of the museum - a retired 1956 Fire truck.

I also liked the Lord Ganesh made with fire fighting equipment parts

I then joined the online meeting hosted by TG.

Thanks to everyone who joined online. Not possible to remember or list everyone.
I hope you had great discussions online.

:handshake: Thanks to @Shrut19 for this composed image.
:handshake: Thanks to TG for using the meetup banner in his meeting background - I did not miss it :+1:

After thanking the tour guide, we headed to a nearby Tea Stall Chaha Khari which was introduced to us by @ShubhamWaman

We had several rounds of Tea and khari and bun maskas… :tea: :bread:

We celebrated the 10 years of Google Local Guides and exchanged a few stickers.

Soon, we discovered all of us were mechanical engineers by qualification and profession. So we had more rounds of tea and khari and bun maska over Tea Talks = Chai pe Charcha.

We then had a final round of tea and buns and parted ways with the promise of meeting soon at the next meetup in Pune.

Nice to know about one of its kind of Fire Museum. And, really love and support your original idea @TusharSuradkar about having a fourth category as Collaborative for the meet-ups.

Well as you said

Is a great idea and effective type of meetup where co-host and joinines can discuss various topics of Maps and Connect & after Host joins, he can starts the main agenda and shows the physical world. For me, it’s one of effective meetup as community can interact and communicate. Thank you @TusharSuradkar and @TravellerG to initiate this.

From the museum, thank you Tushar to show us the only Fire Museum in India.

You shown Accessibility and told us about entry hours.

You also shares with us information on various equipments like compressors, nozzles, etc…

Tea and bun looks delicious and “good day ends with a tea” right!

This was really a nice meet-up. And, as I commented here after attending virtually and going through the detailed conversation during the the meet-up,

this is a good idea to have a new category as Collaborative Meet-up in the Connect Meet-up category list.
