The 256th Amar Ekushey Book Fair Meet-up 2025 of Bangladesh Local Guides was held on 22nd February 2025. Members of Bangladesh Local Guides attended the meet-up. As the host of the meet-up, I am sharing my experience with you through this recap post.
Our meet-up began at the main premises of the Bangla Academy. As soon as we entered, we saw a seminar being held on the main stage. The main theme of the fair has been set as ‘July Mass Uprising: Building a New Bangladesh’. The Amar Ekushey Book Fair is held at two locations simultaneously. One is at the Bangla Academy premises and the other is at Suhrawardy Udyan. We learned that there are a total of 708 publishing houses and a total of 1084 units at this year’s book fair.

We visited some of the book stalls located on the Bangla Academy premises.
Then we went to Suhrawardy Udyan. Book fair stalls were set up across most of the garden. The stalls were temporary and would be dismantled after the fair. Our meet-up was on Saturday. Since it was a weekly closing day, the number of visitors was impressive.
Adequate number of archways have been arranged at the entrance and exit of the book fair. Bangladesh Police, RAB, Ansar and various intelligence agencies will be responsible for the overall security of the fair. For flawless security, more than three hundred closed-circuit cameras have been arranged throughout the fair area.
