To capitalize on the opportunity for unity and generosity that the holy month of Ramadan brings, we organized a delightful Iftar meet-up on the banks of the Kirtankhola River in a picturesque setting surrounded by natural beauty on March 29, 2025. It was a beautiful and meaningful gathering where local guides came together to share an evening of joy, connection, friendship and break their fast.
Our destination was to be reached by boat, so we booked a boat for our journey. Although the boat was small and could not accommodate more than three or four people, everyone arrived one by one and the atmosphere became very exciting. Local Guides l joined the meet-up to create an atmosphere of warmth and friendship. The riverside setting added a serene backdrop to our get-together, making the evening even more special. Everyone enjoyed engaging conversations, discussing our contributions to Google Maps, and sharing their experiences. The meet-up provided a great chance to strengthen our bonds and create cherished memories.
One of the main goals of this meet-up was to support local small businesses. As part of our initiative, we purchased a variety of food items from local shops around the area for our iftar, contributing to their livelihoods. Not only did this help the vendors but it also encouraged responsible and meaningful participation within our community. By adding new places and updating them on Google Maps, we ensured that these businesses received better visibility, potentially attracting more customers in the future.
The Iftar was a delightful mix of fresh foods. Our plates were filled with delicious dates, sharbat mohabbat, orange sweet curd, biryani, drinks, watermelon, bananas, grapes, apples and cucumbers. The gathering allowed us to enjoy our food while appreciating the spirit of Ramadan together.
This meet-up wasnât just about breaking the fast, it was about get-together together supporting local businesses, and making valuable contributions to Google Maps. The event was a success due to the enthusiastic participation of local guides who took the time to join and get involved wholeheartedly. We quickly collected all the garbage we had used and dumped it in a designated place. As local guides, we felt that this was also our responsibility.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this wonderful experience. We look forward to organizing more impactful events in the future and continuing our journey as Local Guides together.
