Recap: [In-Person] India, December 08, Join Us for the Golden Jubilee Meet-up at Rani ki Vav, Patan

The journey of planning my 50th meet-up began two months ago. I wanted to make this meet-up memorable for everyone, so I chose the UNESCO World Heritage site, Rani Ki Vav.

I formed the planning team, including my fellow LGs @Tejal, @KetanChhaniyara, @Premalpatel, @Ptrivedi, @Mukund_hirapara and @Rushabh. We created a dedicated WhatsApp group to ensure smooth communication and held multiple virtual calls to finalise every detail, such as travel and accommodation arrangements for the LGs and the selection of gifts.

I was excited to welcome 65 Local Guides from different states of India who have registered to join us to celebrate this milestone meet-up.
To make this meet-up memorable, we have thoughtfully selected gifts for participants. These gifts include a bag I designed, thank you cards, mugs, stickers, key chains, ID cards, string bags and badges, everything is designed to represent the spirit of the Local Guides community.

We made special arrangements for LGs travelling from outside Gujarat, including LGs from Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, so that their transport and accommodation were taken care of. We arranged three cabs from Ahmedabad to take them to the meetup venue, and @bhayani_naitik made special efforts to coordinate accommodation for LGs from outside. This ensured that everyone could attend the meet-up without any hassle.

We left early in the morning, around 6:30 AM, from Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, filled with excitement. The anticipation of exploring Patan and meeting fellow LGs made the early start worthwhile.

A special shout-out to @prashant_kyada, who showcased his dedication by riding his bike from Rajkot, covering approximately 600+ kilometres to join the meet-up.

Our fellow LG, @KetanChhaniyara, who was attending his first meet-up, expertly coordinated the arrangements for our visit to the Regional Science Center. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the Project Director and the RSC team, who extended their hospitality with a delightful breakfast featuring unique Ragi Dosa, tasty Poha, and refreshing coffee and Tulsi-Pudina tea.

The RSC team offered us the use of their auditorium. We presented a thank you video message from the Local Guides team on the projector to everyone and gave an overview of the Connect platform. Big thanks to @Kristen_NYC and the Local Guides team for your warm wishes.

After this engaging session, we distributed gifts among the LGs and honoured the RSC Project Director and his team for their support and enthusiasm.

We then embarked on a guided tour of the RSC, visiting all five galleries: the Human Anatomy Gallery, Dinosaur Gallery, Hydroponics Gallery, Optical Gallery, and Nobel Prize Gallery.

We also enjoyed the Sun Dial and the Dinosaur Park, featuring life-size sculptures of dinosaurs within the RSC campus.

The Tilt Room and the 5D Theater were standout attractions, sparking amazement and curiosity among everyone. We concluded our RSC visit with a joyful group photo.

After the insightful RSC tour, we headed to Bansi Kathiyawadi restaurant for lunch. The food was delicious and satisfying.

While waiting, we engaged participants with an online quiz about the LG Connect Platform and Google Maps, making the experience both fun and informative.

Our next stop was the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site Rani Ki Vav. To enrich our experience, we hired a guide who shared fascinating insights into the history and architectural significance of this ancient stepwell. The beauty and heritage of the site left us mesmerized.

LG @shyambohra from Rajasthan covered everything in his blog, especially highlighting the introductions of LGs attending their first meet-up.
After exploring Rani Ki Vav, we captured more group photos and enjoyed a musical session by LG @ModNomad.
We also held a prize distribution ceremony for the quiz winners, in which @AnshukMitra stood first for his quick and accurate answers. While @AjitThite stood second and @SanganiFenil stood third.

Furthermore, we organized a social media reel competition to capture the spirit of the meet-up. The prize for the best reel went to @shyambohra for his creative and engaging content. The second and third prizes go to @Sagarkanherkar and @Rajashree.Parmar97. As the sun began to set, we departed with hearts full of joy and minds filled with unforgettable memories.

A total of 54 Local Guides attended the meet-up in person & 25+ Local Guides joined us virtually, making it a memorable gathering filled with harmony and learning. I and my planning committee ensured that everyone reached home safely, concluding a well-organized and truly memorable 50th meet-up.

This meet-up was not just about exploring new places; it was about strengthening connections, sharing knowledge, and celebrating the spirit of the Local Guides community.
