The journey of planning my 50th meet-up began two months ago. I wanted to make this meet-up memorable for everyone, so I chose the UNESCO World Heritage site, Rani Ki Vav.
I formed the planning team, including my fellow LGs @Tejal, @KetanChhaniyara, @Premalpatel, @Ptrivedi, @Mukund_hirapara and @Rushabh. We created a dedicated WhatsApp group to ensure smooth communication and held multiple virtual calls to finalise every detail, such as travel and accommodation arrangements for the LGs and the selection of gifts.
I was excited to welcome 65 Local Guides from different states of India who have registered to join us to celebrate this milestone meet-up.
To make this meet-up memorable, we have thoughtfully selected gifts for participants. These gifts include a bag I designed, thank you cards, mugs, stickers, key chains, ID cards, string bags and badges, everything is designed to represent the spirit of the Local Guides community.
We made special arrangements for LGs travelling from outside Gujarat, including LGs from Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, so that their transport and accommodation were taken care of. We arranged three cabs from Ahmedabad to take them to the meetup venue, and @bhayani_naitik made special efforts to coordinate accommodation for LGs from outside. This ensured that everyone could attend the meet-up without any hassle.
We left early in the morning, around 6:30 AM, from Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, filled with excitement. The anticipation of exploring Patan and meeting fellow LGs made the early start worthwhile.
A special shout-out to @prashant_kyada, who showcased his dedication by riding his bike from Rajkot, covering approximately 600+ kilometres to join the meet-up.
Our fellow LG, @KetanChhaniyara, who was attending his first meet-up, expertly coordinated the arrangements for our visit to the Regional Science Center. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the Project Director and the RSC team, who extended their hospitality with a delightful breakfast featuring unique Ragi Dosa, tasty Poha, and refreshing coffee and Tulsi-Pudina tea.
The RSC team offered us the use of their auditorium. We presented a thank you video message from the Local Guides team on the projector to everyone and gave an overview of the Connect platform. Big thanks to @Kristen_NYC and the Local Guides team for your warm wishes.
After this engaging session, we distributed gifts among the LGs and honoured the RSC Project Director and his team for their support and enthusiasm.
