Hello, Local Guides,
I want to wish the entire Local Guides family Ramadan Mubarak once again.
A few days ago, I submitted a Meet-up for a noble cause, distributing Iftar meals to those in need. Due to the severe economic crisis, many people struggle to afford food. While we do this every evening throughout Ramadan, on March 21, 2025, we invited more Local Guides to join us in this campaign.
This time, we were delighted to have @Bilal_shaikh join us for the event. And as always, @DrFoodieOfficial (Rizwan Shah) never fails to support me in any Local Guides initiative.
As part of our daily routine, we placed food orders early in the morning. Rizwan Shah takes care of this responsibility every day, while I arrange fruits and drinks. We arrived at the food distribution point Road side of Dr Essa Laboratory at 5:45 PM, giving us one hour to set everything up before Iftar at 6:45 PM.
Today’s Iftar Menu:
Snacks: Potato Samosas, Besan Pakoras, Jalebi
Fruits: Three types of fresh fruits
Drink: Chilled Rooh Afza Sharbat
Main Course: Chicken Biryani
We ordered samosas and fried items from United King, a well-known bakery in Karachi, and biryani from Mehran Kitchen Hussainabad.
Preparing for Iftar
The biggest task was assembling large shared platters (Thaal), ensuring equal portions for everyone. This is time-consuming, but thankfully, many kind-hearted locals volunteered to help us.
We had prepared food for around 200 people, and within minutes, we arranged the plates. Just five minutes before the Maghrib Azan, everything was ready.
An evening of Giving
With God’s grace, the event was a success! Not only did we distribute food, but over 200 people had a full meal and left satisfied.
Even though this initiative is not directly part of Local Guides activities, such efforts bring people together, promote teamwork, and give us a deep sense of spiritual satisfaction.
As ordinary citizens, we may not be able to fix the economic crisis, but if we have enough food at home, we can help those in need with whatever little we can spare.
Helping others, even in small ways, creates a big impact, and that’s what truly matters.
