[RECAP] London Meetup - Coffee and Spare Parts - 2019-04-13

Greetings from London ?

On the cold and rainy Saturday afternoon of the 13th of April a bunch of Local Guides in London got together for a fun day of activities with plenty of drinking and eating, starting with an excellent cup of coffee at the Roasting Plant Coffee, where they roast & grind coffee beans on-site and transport them via magical tubing system, which is very fascinating and exciting to watch. They had about 10 different types of coffee beans to choose from, however the ones from Guatemala have won our hearts.

We then moved on to the Science Gallery at King’s College London for the Spare Parts Exhibition, exploring the art and science of organ transplantation and tissue regeneration.

After being on our feet for a while and absorbing all the scientific discoveries we all agreed it was time for a well-earned drink at one of the Traditional British pubs. Our Local Guide @FazZ took us to The King’s Arms, which was exactly what we needed. We had a great chat over a drink discussing Pros and Cons of Connect, as well as the development of Local Guides Program from the intimate City Experts community times to the global Local Guides family we now have.

By the time we finished our drinks, the sun has made its appearance in London (even though it was still freezing) and we all decided to follow our Local Guide @MikeDixon to the local Flea Market, which was full of all sorts of fun stuff, from little baby-dolls to war ornaments and from vintage clothing to pop-up beer and food stands under the blue sky.

On our way to the Flea Market we have spotted a cute little pub in one of the alleys called The Horseshoe Inn, which we all have added it to our “Want to Go” lists in Maps, as it looked very cosy and inviting. It did not take us long to agree to visit this pub after the Flee Market and sample some of their local ales and grab a bite to eat at this hidden little gem of London ?.

To finish off our day in style I took the guys for a cheeky cocktail at the Call Me Mr Lucky Bar. Not long after arriving there @AngelosM has made comment “This is a true Local Guides place”, which was a very good point, as unless you knew exactly where this place was and and how to get in, it is most likely you would not find its secret location/entrance, even with the help of Google Maps ?

As they say, “The picture says a thousand words” and our Coffee & Spare Parts shared photo album reflects this saying very well ?.

Huge thanks to @hawkida & @YleniaL for joining us at this meetup ?. Hope it won’t be too long till we see your lovely faces again!

Till then, keep smiling and stay awesome #LondonLocalGuides!
