I with Co-host @Shrut19 left from Borivali by bus to the Grand Central Park on 11th May 2024. We arrived early and took tickets and some pictures outside the park where we did the accessibility check . At 4 pm we met all the other attendees @Rohan10 , @NikhilDubey46 from Mumbai, @TusharSuradkar from Pune, @AshmizaShah , @ModNomad , @Sagarkanherkar , @Globe_trotter_Ish and other attendees followed along.
There was a security check at the entrance, no one-time use plastic was allowed inside the park premises. We gathered for a group picture at the nameboard. After clicking some good pictures we had a virtual connect with fellow local guides. They were very enthusiastic to attend the meetup virtually and more than 20 folks joined in for the virtual meeting. We showed them the park and had a quick meet-and-greet. Post which we all proceeded to view the park.
The park is very spacious and is divided into different zones like the theme gardens , the X bridge
, the lake view
and play zone for the little ones. There are around 4 theme gardens - Morrocan, Mughal, Japanese and Theme Garden. We admired the beauty and also took some captures.
The park has designs modelled after the famous Central Park in New York and Hyde Park in London. The view from the X bridge was spectacular one and we all were witnessing the scenic beauty and architectural marvel with awe.
We did a accessibility check
and found many areas of the park were wheelchair friendly. We did a group discussion on tips and tricks to use Google Maps.
Around 6 pm we left from the park to have some snacks and carry on our meet-up.
The restaurant Veg.Sizzel’s Restaurantwas a delight for our tummies. We ordered the food and reviewed it on Maps too. Meanwhile, we had a quick introduction session and Quiz by Tushar. The participants signed the card holding the message “I attended India Local Guides Meetup” and got stickers for right answers. We also got gifts like local guide badges and stickers from Tushar.
Munching on food, sipping on tea and having heart-warming conversations, we parted with a whole lot of memories and a promise to meet soon.
My very first meet-up was indeed a grand success and it would have never been possible without the support of my lovely Co-host Shrut19, amazing guidance by Tushar, prompt help by Rohan and delightful presence of all the wonderful attendees.
