I’m a Level 8 Google Maps Local Guide and I’ve tried adding a missing place to the map multiple times, but my addition keeps getting rejected.
The place is a natural rock climbing area located at Iran-Zanjan-Goljik (my homeplace) .
I’ve ensured the name, address, category, and location pin are accurate.
I’ve added photos and all necessary information like opening hours and a website link.
However, it’s still not being accepted. Is there anything more I can do or any specific reasons for the rejection? I would appreciate any tips or guidance!
Should I manually enter the urban area name in the address? I let it auto-fill the address previously. Also, I didn’t include the website because the place doesn’t have one yet. I can write the website of the sports federation Could that be a major issue, or will the correct address be enough for approval?
It would be very helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply. Just hitting Reply does not ensure we get notified by email.
I understand that you dropped a pin and the address was created automatically. But the address is still not a proper address as you can see on my screenshot. This happens when there are no roads. You could try using Google’s plus codes.
I would recommend you wait for the website to go live. And make sure the link you give is mentioning place with name and address matching.
Can you describe more about the place you want to add?!
There are several mistakes in adding this place:
From the conformity with reality perspective, I can’t find any info about this place. It seems you’re adding an unofficial Turkish name while when you’re adding a name with Persian characters, you should add the place name in Persian. Plus, it doesn’t seem like a real name. Can you prepare an official reference that verifies this place?
From the Maps rules perspective, you entered a Persian name in the English field which is wrong. We should change the language of the Maps to Persian, to add a Persian name. Moreover, you added it under the natural climbing rock area, which sounds incorrect if it isn’t used for climbing. If it is a Natural location, then in most cases, users cannot add and should ask in the forum to be added by Google.
So, rejection is normal in this case.
Any clarification will help to have the correct info on the map based on the Maps rules.
Thank you very much for your detailed feedback and guidance. As a climbing instructor and researcher with extensive experience in natural landmarks, I’ve carefully verified the name of this rock tower through consultations with local experts and native speakers.
I understand the importance of adhering to Maps rules and appreciate your insights on the proper use of language and category. Place names can indeed carry significant cultural and linguistic nuances that might not always translate directly or accurately into another language. The native name I provided is widely recognized and used locally, and while translating it into Farsi might not fully capture its essence, it reflects the name as it is commonly known in its original context.
Have to notice:
Official Reference: I will collect official references to support the name and its local significance.
Language Setting: I’ll make sure to enter the Turkish name in the correct field and adjust the language settings as needed.
Category Review: I’ll re-evaluate the category to ensure it accurately represents the location and seek further guidance if necessary.
I truly appreciate your assistance and will incorporate your feedback to ensure the information is as accurate and compliant as possible.
As I told, I was unable to find any info about this place by that local name, so it is not well-known enough as you mentioned.
Local points and names will only be acceptable when they are also used in official national references. The official reference you will prepare will help for clarification.
