We love learning about your experiences as Local Guides and seeing your amazing photos and videos on Connect.
However, when you share media on Connect, they must meet the requirements below.
Only share your original photos and video or photos and videos you have permission to post
The photos you share should either be original photos that you’ve taken as the photographer or ones that you have the right to share with permission from the copyright holder. Do not post media that infringe on any copyright or that you don’t have permission to share.
Choose photos that are relevant to your post
Photos and videos you share on Connect should clearly relate to the subject or topic you are writing about.
Include a caption and credit
As you add a photo to your post, add a simple descriptive caption to explain what can be seen in the photo as well as photo credit. The descriptive caption will help our readers using assistive technology experience the photos you share.
You can read a caption by hovering over or clicking on a photo. To insert a caption, simply upload / drag / paste your image in the editor box and write a description in between the [ and | characters:
For example, the photo below taken by Local Guide Meng He would be captioned, “A photo of a blue sky reflected in the windows of a building. (Local Guide Meng He)”
Pay attention to these file properties:
- Landscape or horizontal images with a 2:1 ratio will generally look better than portrait or vertical images.
- The recommended single photo file size is 4 MB (megabytes) to allow for the site to load quickly on your device.
- Single video files may not exceed 16 MB.
- Photos and videos should be good quality. Not blurry, out of focus, or otherwise difficult to view.
- There’s no limit to how many photos you can post on Connect, but we encourage you to share only your best photography to inspire others.
