I have promised to share about Cambodian dessert or sweet or ice-cream in the monthly topic initiated by @HiroyukiTakisawa .
ទឹកកកឈូស read as [Teouk Kok Choose] or Shave Ice is originally the snack sold only at school for school children during the break. It was pretty cheap for the school children to have it in between classes, especially in the afternoon when it is too hot, so this helps to cool down. It had ice (shred in the ice hand shredder), syrup and basil seeds.
However, in the recent years, Shave Ice become so popular, not only to kids but youth and many other generation also loves it. There are updated flavors.
There are fruits, a mix of fruits flavor and dry fruits as well.
In the photo above, Shave Ice, flavor with durian and avocado. It tastes great in different ways. If you want to add sweeten flavor, then there are condensed milk, sugar syrup and durian and avocado sauce to add. They were yummy
Even there are big café and shops that specialized in serving Shave Ice. One popular in Phnom Penh is Moto Café (Google Map is here). It often has many guests go there for Shave Ice.
Price range: different between place, between 1$-5$/dish
In the past, they used these tools to make shred ice!

Thankyou @Sophia_Cambodia for sharing the Shave Ice snack it look really fresh and delicious !!!
We have something very similar in Italy, I’m talking about the Sicilian granita with a semi-creamy consistency but which is the result of a millenary tradition, introduced by the Arab domination in Sicily, 'the sharbat, or sherbet, terms that derive from the Arabic sharba, ‘’ drink ‘’ cold, flavored with fruit and often also with flower petals.
in Sicily the climate is very hot in summer while in winter it snows in the mountains and so the collected snow was pressed and placed in the snow-houses, natural caves or small houses built on purpose, until it became ice.
In the summer, the mass of ice was “scratched” and seasoned with honey and lemon.
To date, the Sicilian Granita is prepared with coffee chocolate, Bronte pistachio, almond, and various fruit flavors such as black mulberry, peach, strawberry, mandarin, cherry, lemon and prickly pear, but also with flavor of jasmine to eat with the Sicilian Brioche “Brioscia co 'Tuppu”.
In Sicily they make excessive use of it during the summer and this preparation is gradually becoming more and more popular also in the rest of Italy.

Likewise @KamalHossenR when writing this post, all memories came back. We all have same childhood. I walked barefoot from home to school for about 2-3km away and return everyday. So, shave ice is kind of energic drink that blends so well.
