Stage 10: Bicycle trip along Italian east coast

Photo 1: This little masked pirate woke us up at 5 in the morning by tapping with his beak on the glass of the window of the Hotel in Barletta. He stayed there without moving even with us taking pictures in front of the glass. He had seems an habituè, maybe someone who has stayed in this hotel room before us gave him some bread?

Tenth stage of our Giro d’Italia from Barletta to Bari. In these 66 km we have crossed some beautiful villages by the sea such as Trani, Molfetta, Bisceglie, Giovinazzo. As far as possible we have avoided the state road 16 but we have not always followed the route of the Bi6 also due to interruptions and roads not suitable for our vehicles and bikes. Even some deviations, due to the works for the construction of the new promenade, in the heart of Bari, full of traffic lights, were not easy for Mariacristina, due to the restarts that make her feel the pain in her knee more. However, it must be said that, after last night’s dry ice treatment, she resumed pedaling even though we reduced the cruising speed a bit to avoid compromising the entire lap. Tomorrow we will make a digression on what is planned as a route and we will not go to Alberobello and I will see what round to do to avoid the 430 m difference in altitude of the arrival place that would have put a strain on Cri’s injured knee, putting the continuation of the journey at risk. It will mean that this time we will not sleep in a trullo, even if they tell me that it is all very commercial and not very rural and truthful. Obviously the Grand Hotel of the Nations is an amazing and fantastic thing. For us it is the first time that we sleep in a five-star hotel, there was a very advantageous offer and we did not give up. Beautiful scene of the bike parking on the revolving door with a lot of porters in top hats and tails, it looked more like a penguin than a human, poor boy, how he has to dress to be able to work! We and our bicycles are completely dirty: “We have booked a room”, “Are you sure this is the right Hotel, sir?”, “SURE!”, Doors wide open, bicycles parked in the Hotel Hall under the beautiful fountain ! Hahaha !!

Che belle immagini che hai scattato e filmato! La Puglia, o come la chiamiamo ancora in molti al plurale, le Puglie, non finiscono mai di stupirmi per la bellezza e per la ricchezza della loro storia.

Mi ha incuriosito una parte del tuo video, quella dove i passerotti chiedono da mangiare alle 5:30, chissà quale sia l’ora giusta per il loro pasto. Per la mia cagnolina Cookie è sempre ora di pranzo!

@Giu_DiB Si è stata una vacanza incredibile e il più bello deve ancora arrivare a mio avviso. Oggi pubblicherò la tappa 13. Ho proposto a Denigu di inserire fra i tag anche la voce Bicicletta che sta diventando così importante per l’ambiente. Inoltre potrebbe essere nella politica di Maps che sta sviluppando i percorsi per le biciclette, non credi?

A sapere chi sia stato ad abituare i passerotti a battere con il becco sul vetro, certo che gli animali imparano alla svelta e conservano nel DNA i comportamenti, del resto anche noi ci siamo evoluti così!

Cookie? Biscottina? mi dà l’idea di una cagnolina tipo cocker di colore aranciato. Mah? Chissà se ci ho azzeccato!

@Giu_DiB cara che bella, non c’ho azzeccato ma il nome mi suggeriva questo! Fino a poco tempo fa avevo un cane con me Falcor (come il fantadrago della Storia infinita), ora vive con mio figlio che si è portato via anche la calopsite a cui Cri aveva insegnato a fischiettare la canzone di Robin Hood! Poi guardo quello che hai detto, se ho sbagliato correggo!
