Stanford University is a private non-profit university in Stanford, California. Stanford is known for its academic strength, wealth, proximity to Silicon Valley, and ranking as one of the world’s top universities. Opened in 1891. The University has 16,430 students on 2,219 faculties.
The place looks amazing, did you study there? I would like to know more about the university, can you maybe share a little more about what can you study there? From which countries are the students?
Sharing a bit more information about your images in general would arouse the curiosity and interest of the other members, and they will have a better understanding of the place.
I visited this university with a very short visit, during my trip to California this year. As many probably know, I am a Platinum Product Expert and Mentor of the Maps forum and participated in the annual summit, which was held in Sunnyvale this year.
As I wrote above, this is one of the best universities in the world. According to information from the Internet, companies founded or co-founded by Stanford alumni are Nike, Netflix, Hewlett-Packard, Electronic Arts, Sun Microsystems, Nvidia, Yahoo !, Cisco Systems, Silicon Graphics, Google, and many others.
The most interesting fact for us is that Google began in 1996 as a research project by Larry Page and Sergey Brin when they were both Ph.D. students at Stanford.
I just want to add that for me this university is most famous because of Stanford prison experiment. For those who do not know, it was social psychology experiment made in 1971.
Professor Philip Zimbardo hired students for summer job, divided them randomly into two groups - prisoners and wardens and tried to simulate prison environment realistically. Interesting things happened, at least for me, but I do not want to spoil anything. If this caught your interest you can watch documentary about it on Youtube. Search for: Zimbardo- Stanford Prison Experiment Documentary.
Oh yeah you are right, birth of Google Search is definitely more famous and influential story. We both would not be chatting here without that and I would not have this job :).
But because I studied social sciences and I am still interested in them, the first thing which came to my mind (so called association) after seeing Stanford University was this experiment so I just wanted to add that.
I am looking forward to more posts from you and I wish you a nice day!
Thank you for sharing the additional information with me, it is very interesting to get knowing you
I really liked the pictures, but I have noticed that some part of the content that you’ve wrote is not yours and this is a violation of our Program rules. I would be happier if you shared the additional information in your original post. Would you mind editing your post and share your experience there?
You talking about half sentence. If is really violates our rules, please correct my post yourself.
I just want to take this opportunity to remind you that Google Maps are overflowing with various violations of rules. Including billions of violation coming from Local Guides. And I’m happy to see so principled googler.
