#StateChallenge Index from #TeamUSA

:us: #TeamUSA :us: may be a bit late to the challenge of showcasing our country, but we are excited for the opportunity to share with you nonetheless.

ALL Local Guides around the world are welcome to participate in the #StateChallenge!!!

Our challenge is: write about the things we most enjoy (or want to enjoy) about the United States.

Each week (or so) we will feature a different state. The schedule will be added to this article in blocks.

There are 3 ways to participate:

:writing_hand: Write :memo:

Write a short article about that state in one of the following areas:

  • Something you have :sunglasses: seen, :tickets: done, :green_salad: eaten, :cowboy_hat_face: experienced or :flight_arrival: visited in that state.

Or

  • Something you wantto  see, :mount_fuji: do, :hamburger: eat, :roller_coaster: experience or :flight_departure: visit in that state.

:ballot_box_with_check: In order for a post to be included, posts must meet these requirements :ballot_box_with_check:

  • :page_with_curl: Be less than 500 words
  • :us: Include #StateChallenge in the title
  • :world_map: Include #TeamYourCountryName in the article
  • :camera_flash: Include at least :clock1: original photo (ex. Photo of similar food, animal or experience, your face when you see it, or your country’s equivalent of the subject)
  • :alarm_clock: Publish by the deadline

:selfie: Meetup :speech_balloon:

Each week, @Denise_Barlock will host a short meetup on Saturday. These meetups will be :grey_question: trivia quizzes :grey_question: , with questions pulled from State Challenge articles published by the deadline. You do not have to study for the trivia unless you really want to.

:newspaper_roll: Read :newspaper_roll:

  • Read the Inspiration Announcement - It will include a few details about the state to help get you inspired, and the deadline.
  • Read the Recap Article - it will include links to the week’s #StateChallenge articles.
  • Read the Meetup Recap- :trophy: Trivia Winner :trophy: WILL be announced.

:checkered_flag: We can’t wait to get started! :checkered_flag:

@Kwiksatik I’m so excited to get started on this challenge! There is SO MUCH to learn about each state. Each state is so varied and different. I can’t wait to see what everyone has either done or want to do in every state! It’s time for me to start thinking about my Maine article to contribute!!!

Wow!! @Kwiksatik @Denise_Barlock A well thought out and fun challenge for us all!! I’ve got something to write about Maine! I may struggle with finding a photo as the only photos I have of my time there are non-digitals and they are, erm, somewhere in the house (not sure where). I’ll see what I can do! And I like that there’s a max limit on words too!! Yay!

Thank you so much @ErmesT ! I think we will have a super-fun time exploring our states. I’ll likely wind up learning a few things I should have known long before now.

@AdrianLunsong If you can’t find your photo, take a selfie of what your face may have looked like :slightly_smiling_face: I have a feeling I may be doing some of this when I can’t find a photo or posting about a place I want to go to. hahahahaha

I am sure you will, @Kwiksatik

This is a real great idea as in fact when talking about the US, it is clear that there are so many different states and as well cultures…

I only know something about some states, but to learn now step by step with you will be great! @Kwiksatik @Denise_Barlock

Thank you!!!

Thanks for launching this #StateChallenge activity @Kwiksatik

As an Indian national, I am excited about participating because I have traveled to the US several times for both business and leisure.

I have also maintained my own little map of the states and cities I have visited in the US, besides those that I wish to visit in the future.

From the initial list of 5 that you’ve suggested, I will for Arizona since the others are still on my bucket list of places to visit

Hi @Kwiksatik

Another quick question before I update my article today:

Does *"*Include #StateChallenge in the title" means including #ArizonaChallenge in the title or literally Include #StateChallenge in the title? I know it is a noob question.

Last one: Should I come back here and comment with the article link or are you going to find them out all using the HashTag?

Thanks.

Edit: I should NOT comment from my phone. That didn’t work at all

@TusharSuradkar not noob! Valid! For sure post a comment on the Arizona challenge article when it goes up. I’ll make sure to tag you when I publish it so you get a notification!

Thanks @AdrianLunsong ! We’ve been hatching this plan for months! If you can’t find a photo, definitely just take a photo expressing your response to the topic of your article. Partly because it works, but mostly because you are so animated and I would love to see your face again.

Oh @JaneBurunina I am so excited to have you along for the ride!!! It was so wonderful to see you at the chocolate meetup. I can’t wait to see more of you! @Denise_Barlock is going to be alternating the meetup timing so that it’s easy for people from each country to attend one every so often. Don’t push yourself to be up at some crazy time. She is dedicated to making sure everyone has a chance to come without having to lose sleep.
