As a Local Guide we love to contribute and help building the ecosystem through the wonderful platform Google Maps given to us by Google. This is a wonderful gift we all have got from Google and we can’t thank Google enough for this.
Contributing to Google Maps has become infectious and an integral part of our day-to-day life.
It has many facets like add places, add review, add photo/video, edit features, edit roads etc. and through which we further help building ecosystem. This is not something new and known to everyone reading this post. And, on top we have got this beautiful system Local Guides Connect Forum.
Here, I intend to re-emphasize the way we Support Small Businesses as a Local Guide. It is our social and moral responsibility to support small businesses through the use of Google Maps.
The first thing which triggers in in our mind is what sort of small businesses we can support. Small Business is a small term but has a wider coverage and hence to keep it simple to start with in order to support them, some of the small businesses we can consider like Florist, Tea stall, Juice shop, Repair shop, Potter, Handicraft shop, Local clothes shop, Vegetables seller, Fruits seller, Snacks items seller, Shops in vending zone etc. This list could go on and go on. These are just the indicative shops.
During Covid-19 situation, I used to find out such shops and contributed to the maps for many of such small businesses. I have added many of them on the Google Maps, written reviews for them, added photos/videos etc. Some of them are now closed also. And, wherever possible, I visit those POI and update their current operating status. In the coming time, I will touch upon few of them. In this post, I will talk about Vijay Mobile Repairing and Watch Repairing shop.
The owner of this shop is quite knowledgeable and technical. He has in-depth understanding of mobile phones operating on different platforms. He fixes and repair the problems quite fast and accurately. Alongside, he also sells the mobile accessories to cater needs of the customers. Shop is very small but good enough to accommodate the customer footfall. Whenever, I need any such repair service or in need of any accessories for mobile phone, I visit his shop. He is a thorough gentle person. Three years back I have written the review for this place and uploaded couple of photos. The shop is running well and their customers are happy 
customers.
As a Local Guide we can do the following in order to Support Small Businesses:
- Add the shop on Google Maps, if it is not added already.
- Write a review for the shop.
- Add Photo/Video of the shop
- Edit the address and location if found not correct, in case the shop is already added on the Maps.
- A brief discussion with the shop owner about Google Maps, if the owner is not familiar to the Maps.
- Share the shop reference (Google Maps url of the shop) with friends and family.
I have earlier written a post on Saras Aajeevika Mela Noida 2024 which explains the horizon and benefits the Small Businesses can have with a little of our support. They are doing their best, we just need to hand hold in some way and what better and easy than to support them through Google Maps.
