“That’s in Hong Kong?” is a response I’ve gotten quite a few times when showing people these. All you need to do is wander and you’ll find places, spaces and instances you’d never have found otherwise. Hong Kong may be the city with the most skyscrapers. It’s a densely packed urban powerhouse. The city is unique, loud, alive and thriving. I enjoyed that and there is no doubt I love Hong Kong, but, sometimes you just want to escape it all. A relaxing ferry ride and then a trip on the bus to Lantau Island and more specifically Pui O Beach can whisk your mind to places you wouldn’t imagine are part of Hong Kong.
Notably less developed but in no way less than it’s larger sister islands Lantua is tranquil, uniquely different and holds a charming beach town feel. I was disappointed to arrive later than expected, having missed the best time for swimming. My demeanour soon changed when I realised I had the beach mostly to myself. As the sun began setting the magic started happening. The sky went from a bluish-grey to a dusty soft pink that seemed to colour life itself. Definitely one of my most spectacular sunset experiences thus far and one of my most memorable. I would like to see others posting similar photo’s of the place and see how you experienced it. Better yet, if you’ve experienced something similar somewhere else where nature surprised you with colour.
Have you got any pictures or stories of anything that some would not imagine to be in Hong Kong?
